My son will be turning 4 on the trip so I'd like to go somewhere fun for dinner!

Reccomendations?

On our last trip to Disney he was only 4 months old so this is going to be brand new for him!

My other kids loved Crystal palace, so thats an options.
Characters would be a good idea I think...other suggestions?

Also, can I order cake somewhere?

Thanks for any tips!

We recommend Chef Mickey's. We always go there to celebrate the grandchildren's birthday's if we're at the World. As a matter of fact, during our May 2010 trip, one of our grandson's and our niece will be celebrating their birthday's again. They were asked where they wanted to celebrate and they both said Chef Mickey's. It is really a lot of fun for the kids and we think for the parents too. It's almost like a tradition now. We think the food is pretty good and you have plenty to pick from.

would be my first suggestion. Chef Mickey" would be the second. I think the food selection at CP is better overall. In the end it might just come down to whether your son likes the Pooh characters or the classic Disney characters better.

Our little guy turned 3 down there and we did the Hollywood and Vine character meal on his actual birthday. WE WON'T BE BACK. Characters were great. The staff and food were not good at all.

We also celebrated his birthday at Chef Mickey's. He received a cupcake. We did order a larger cake for our (mine and his) celebration at O'hana, but honestly, with all of the food and various desserts, I would never do that again as it was a waste of money and he was much more happy with the cupcake.

Also, he will be turning 5 in Disney world 9/2010. We are going to have his Actual birthday party at Trex in Downtown disney.

Depending on when you go, CP will be closed for a refurb but LTT will be reintroducing characters again until CP reopens. I agree that Chef Mickey's would be a good choice as well. The buffets at CP or CM will give you lots of choices for your son.

when my son turned 3, On his actual birthday we went to Tusker House for Breakfast (he loves this place and they gave him cupcake and Donald came over when they were singing happy birthday) and Chef Mickey for dnner (my husband and I did not like the food at all but good character interaction and my son got a cupcake and they sang to him). During that week we went to a couple of character meal which he enjoyed (he loved CP, LTT but they don't offer characters there expect Jan-Feb2010, Cape May and Hollywood and Vine). I got him a cake at Hollywood and Vine (a Lighting cake...he loved it and the boy next to us really like it so we shared the cake with the other tables), LTT (a Mickey Mouse Head cake...HE LOVED that one and Goofy came to the table while the CM was singing), Brown Derby (I got him the standard cake). We will be celebrating his 5ht birthday (his 5th Disney trip). I'm trying to figure out if I should get a cake b/c the places I did not get a cake he got cupcakes and he was happy with that too. I think I might need to get just one and have it at our room. Have a magical trip:)

We celebrated my son's 2nd b-day there. It was awesome. The food was served family style and it was delicious. Steak, mahi mahi, & turkey with all the sides. The only down side is that the characters are only there for dinner. We had a late dinner (7:50) so the restaurant was not very busy and my son got all the characters' attention. Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale.
We will be back every time we go to WDW for sure.
