Best pins for 9-year-old first-time trader?

I've spent the morning read chip_and_dale!'s informative articles about scrappers, scammers, and sharks, and now I'm a little overwhelmed!

My DD (age 9), would like to trade a few pins when we go to WDW in late January. I'd like to get her a lanyard and a few pins for Christmas -- 1) so she'll have something to trade right away; and 2) so I can hopefully save a few $$ by getting them ahead of time off eBay rather than paying full price in the parks.

My problem is that all the ones that catch my eye are things she wouldn't want to let go of! The It's A Small World (Asia) pin, for example. She'd looooove that, but she wouldn't want to trade it away.

Can y'all offer suggestions on some reasonably priced ($5 or less), general pins that cast members would be willing to accept in trade? I don't really want rare, limited edition, hard-to-find pins... ;)

CM's take any pin, as long as it's metal, copyright Disney and they don't already have it. I would use the eBay super thread (link in my sig) and check out the green listed sellers to find a lot of pins. Or go to disneyshopping.com and buy a starter set there.

Thanks, pixiewings71! I will do that! :)

Just wanted to update to say that I went to thewill's ebay store and won seven pins for very reasonable prices ($0.44 to $0.63 each), and with the combined shipping, the total was under $10.

I had to go against my natural inclination and look for pins that I thought my daughter would be willing to trade, rather than things I knew she would want to keep! I ended up getting two ALOHA pins with Chip (or is it Dale?) on them, so she can keep one and trade the other.

Now to look for a lanyard!

No..that is not the best bet.
Bulk lots are scrappers.
Check the ebay selling thread for tips on avoiding them.

I bought seven pins from thewill on ebay, who is one of the "green" sellers on the ebay selling thread. I was very pleased with price, selection, and service! So pleased, in fact, that I'm considering going back and getting a few more so she will have more to trade (and may feel less need to BUY at full price).

Thanks for the help!

I'm very happy that our super thread was helpful to you!! I'm sure your dd will love trading!!! My best advice is to have more traders available then you think she will need, our first couple of trips after we discovered trading I had a lot of pins available to trade but we still ran out so we had to buy more in the parks. lol Of course we are a family of 4 traders but still. :) I recommend having 10-15 more then you expect she will trade.
