This will be my first time visiting WDW with a SMART PHONE! (galaxy S4 to be exact:thumbsup2) Besides MDE and disboards, what are some helpful phone apps you use while visiting WDW?

Are there good weather apps that show a local weather radar that would help track an impending storms?

Any helpful photo apps?

What apps help get through your WDW stay?

My Disney Experience - that's really all you need for the parks/resort.

For weather, it hasn't been updated in years but My-Cast (Garmin) is my favorite. It's just straight up weather and the radar looks like you'd expect. You can even get the forecast for the day by tapping on a day.

There are other apps that have been updated for the iPhone 5 screen and they're certainly prettier, but My-Cast is what I prefer.

I think for snapshots that the built-in apps for your cameras phone are probably good enough. There are some other apps like Camera+ that'll do a little extra but I just use the normal photo app in the phone.

MDE for obvious reasons.

I also use an independent app called 'Disney World Wait Times' for Android. Very simple...wait times are reported by people in the park. Probably not quite as precise or reactive as MDE, but it loads a lot faster with much less navigation.

Also make sure you have a decent weather app with current radar, especially during thunderstorm season.

If you fly in, it is also useful to have the app of your airline. In the case of Southwest, their app also allows you to checkin. It's also useful if there is a serious delay going home. This helped me out a few months ago when I received a text message that my flight was delayed 6 hours (and check with your airline to definitely do that, if available) and I was able to look up other flights and rescheduled while walking around Epcot.

I like MouseWait, they usually have more accurate wait times posted for the Standby lines.

Disney also has Disney Memories HD for photos that you can take while you're on your trip and spruce them up with Disney magic. You can also set character alarms with this app.

FOR APPLE USERS I use DarkSky for weather. It shows you down to the minute when it'll be raining or snowing, how heavy etc. It also has maps. It updates automatically to your location so you don't have to change that every so often. You can set it so it'll alert you to when the rain will start. I think it was a few bucks but it's been well worth it! Since you've got an Android, weather underground is really great and free.

I downloaded Kenny the Pirate's "app" last year and never used it. (it was like $8 too), I also saved easywdw.com's free waits to my home screen and ended up using it fairly often, although the actual wait times on MDE were very similar.

As for photo apps I recommend Afterlight, pic stitch, Lumie (this gives your photos some cool bookeh effects), Frontback, video sound replace, slow shutter, and maybe ps express. Apparently vsco cam is also pretty cool.

That's cause they're using the same data - although easywdw pulls it every five minutes, so there could be a little bit of a lag in its data.

Also, there's probably better ways to do this, but I created an Evernote document with my pre-scheduled Fastpass times. Going into MDE to get them takes too long. I also put my trip planning spreadsheet into Evernote, as well as a photo showing the license plate of the rental car. And I also created a document called parking space where I described my parking spot 'Simba 32 rear' or something like that.

Well that makes a lot of sense then. :thumbsup2 I ended up just not checking them after a few days as waits were non existent in September, and I had been part of the FP+ testing.

I've heard of people just taking a screen shot of their FP+ times.

I have a Samsung Galaxy phone.

I like the weather channels app because I can pull up the radar and watch the storms roll in so I can be under cover fast enough. Especially when I forget my poncho. LOL

I also like kenny the pirates app. I look for the characters to get my picture with them and his app allows me to know the times they are out and about so I don't miss one that I want to meet. It's available on his website and is called character locator. I bought the Pro version.

There is a Disney Trivia app that I like. It's called Disney Park Trivia. It's just basic trivia that is fun to read while waiting in lines.

I have the lines app from touring plans since I've a subscription to them.

I also use the Undercover tourist free app sometimes so that's on my phone.

I have the Florida 511 app for watching traffic when driving.

I think that's it.

You could just add them to your calendar as meetings. Then have your phone set to alert you 1hr before or whatever is appropriate. That's how I used to do it.

Now I just use MDE.

Head's Up is a fun game to play with your family while waiting in line.

Yeah if we're doing games too Temple Run, Rise of the Blobs, Word search, Abduction, and doodle jump are all good. They're all 1 player of course but you can either collaborate or take turns and see who gets a higher score. My husband and I usually play them when waiting for something.

Just downloaded this, I love it! Great suggestion!
