We just made a ressie for April and are planning on taking our 2 DD's & 2 little Shizu's. What is the most family and pet friendly loop to request? We were only able to get a full hook up but I would rather have the preferred for the cable. Either way which loop/loops are the best? I would rather not be right next to the comfort station for privacy, would like it to be somewhat quiet and close enough to not feel like we are out in the middle of nowhere. I know that's a lot to ask for but am open to any and all suggestions. I really just want this vacation to be great so I can maybe talk my DH into actually buying our own camper. We are renting for this trip but I have always wanted to have our own so we could travel like I did when I was a kid with my parents. Thanks in advance!!:)

Have you checked out the FW map sticky near the top of the forum? We stay preferred. Not so much for the cable(its all Disney) so much as its closer to Pioneer Hall and the Marina. Many people like full hookups that are near the Meadows. Lots of activities going on there--pool, chip & dale program, evening movies etc.

Reading on the other threads, I see loop 1900 is horrible? How do we insure we don't end up there? Can a specific loop be requested? How is this done when we won't know what we get until we get there?:confused3

i Never believed this would happen, but I just called the front desk and they confirmed that all loops now accept pets.:cool1:

Didn't I tell you guys so???? (Not you, Tim - just the rest) Oh, ye of little faith!

Well, I did see your previous post, but as I said, I didn't thnk Disney would do it. So, I guess I'm included in your "victory dance".

Now, with all of that said, I think they are making a mistake. While I love having Natasha with us, there are folks who do not like animals. For them a "non-pet" loop was the way to go. Only time will tell.

Really?? All loops are pet loops? :yay: When did they change it? I just made reservations about 2 or 3 weeks ago and they said I had to be on a pet loop and made it sound like there were just certain loops that were these. That would be great because then I would be less likely to be in loop 1900 which I understand is horrible. After spending as much money as we will be doing, I naturally want to get the best site I can.:thumbsup2

It went into effect January 1. They have built a doggie park behind the playground at the 300 loop.

I must agree with Tim5055 as to Disney's judgement on this. We have several friends that winter at FtW who simply do not like dogs - and said that if FtW adopted this policy - they would not be back. Time will tell. I personally don't care, as I love dogs (but sometimes loathe the owners).

The decision came about due to the fact that the majority of people now travel with their pets and loop assignment became a nightmare. A MH Magazine article this past spring alluded to this fact. A lot of pet owners would never dream of kenneling their babies. I myself have two cats that always camp with us & have only spent one night of their lives in a kennel. They were so traumatized by the experience, that they literally pee-ed all over each other. I would NEVER do that to them again. DH & I would take separate vacations if we had to put our babies in a kennel.

As to the best site???? It's very difficult to ask for a particular site - but a loop request can most times be honored. I personally like the 1700, 1600, 1100 & 1200 loops for non-preferred. Preferred loops - I like 300 & 200. Take a look at the sticky of the map of FtW for the lay of the land, and see which features you would like to be closest to.

JMHO (which is worthless to most :lmao: ) Debbie

Thanks Everyone for all the info!! Hopefully ALL pet oweners will be respectful of the non pet lover campers. I agree they should have left some loops that are not pet friendly. Not that my doggie is a barker but some are and not everyone enjoys waking up to that. I guess this is kind of like Disney making all the resort rooms Non-smoking. It makes some happy and some not so happy. Good Luck everyone!

Thanks for all the great info. I would think that the allure of FtW would be enough for even non dog lovers to want to stay, but each to their own, I guess. I agree, tho, that Disney should have left a few loops to no pet loops, but then they have the opposite problem.

Ok...I just received an email back from Disney after asking if I could request a certain loop or at least state that I did NOT want a certain loop (1900) and I also asked about the all loops being pet loops now. This was my answer. What do you make of it???

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is the only Resort which
allows pets on property outside of a kennel. Preferred campsites that
allow pets are in loops 300 and 700. Regular full hookup campsites that allow pets are in loops 800, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900. These are the
only loops in which pets will be accepted. Requests for sites or
facilities other than those listed will not be granted.

There is a $5.00 per day charge per site (not per pet) for this service.

All guests with pets are required to sign in, at which time they will
receive a copy of the WALT DISNEY WORLD pet policy. These guidelines,
as listed below, must be adhered to throughout their stay.

* Pets will be restricted to their loop at all times during the guest's
stay
* Pets must be walked on the pet path or along the canal only. The
owner is also responsible for picking up and disposing after their pet.
* Pets may not roam freely in their loop. A pet must be kept on a leash when being walked or tethered when on the site. Tethers may be no
longer than eight feet.
* Guest may not leave their pet(s) unattended at their site, which
causes them to bark or whine disturbing other guests.
* Pets will not be allowed on electric carts (pargos)

>> Pet owners who do not follow these policies will be asked to kennel
their pet <<

So, I called them and was told all loops are NOT pet loops....

Ok...I do not know why my posts are not showing up, but I just called Disney again and requested a specific loop because all loops are NOT pet loops according to 2 different people I called as well as the email I received that I put into another post. Don't know what is going on, but...
My first reaction to your post was "Who are they talking to?" as the cast members at Central Reservations (CRO 407-W-DISNEY) are notorious for not understanding the rules at Fort Wilderness. Additionally, when policies/rules have changed at FW in the past CRO gave out bad information for months.

Well, I called the front desk of FW again (407-824-2900) and asked to verify what the rules were - noting that there was conflicting information out there. The CM who answered the phone said that the latest she knew was that pets were still restricted to certain loops, but that she would verify it for me. After about 5 minutes on hold she came back on and said the rules were still the same... Pets were restricted to pet loops -not all loops.

So, either the rules are the same as always or as has happened in the past we will have months of confusion while the "new" rules get out to everyone.

Thanks, Tim, for verifying. I don't know what the rules will eventually be, but I was beginning to think they just didn't like me.:sad2:

Even that email was wrong.....

300, 700, 800 Preferred Pet Loops

500 Preferred Pet Overflow Loop

900, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900 Pet Loops full hook-up

Nobody agrees on anything it seems. When I requested a certain loop, I was again (as always at reservations) told the pet loops for full hookups were 1600, 1700, 1800, and 1900...no 900 in there. Oh well, I requested 1700 and asked to NOT get 1900 so that should do at any rate. :thumbsup2
