Best pet friendly hotel at WDW?

The pet sitter fell through so we need to switch from Pop to a pet friendly resort. We need two rooms.
Which pet friendly resort is closest to the kennels?
Which pet friendly resort is your favorite?
What is involved in changing my resort? Are there fees involved? Our final payment is due this week.

Since you are still outside of PIF there shouldn’t be any change fee (if you booked with a TA they may have a fee).

Art of Animation will be closest in price to POP. The other dog-friendly resorts are Port Orleans Riverside, Yacht Club and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Of those, I think POR is closest to Best Friends Pet Care.

I've narrowed it down to AoA or POR. I do like the proximity of POR to Best Friends.
Are there any Royal or Preferred POR pet friendly rooms?
What about AoA Mermaid rooms - any pet friendly? The promo I saw only mentioned pet-friendly studios at AoA.
I plan to call guest services tomorrow. On top of needing a pet-friendly room, we have a second room booked which will also
need to be changed to the pet friendly resort.

Yes, I believe both of those room types are in dog-friendly buildings.
This link is about the dog-friendly rooms. And from that you can click on each resort, from which you can bring up a resort-specific map with the dog relief areas noted. Based on those locations, I would say there are dog-friendly rooms for AoA Little Mermaid as well as POR Royal Rooms or Preferred rooms (in the Aligator Bayou section).
