We're happy to catch public transport or an Uber. We're looking mainly for sports shoes and some clothing. Where is the best/cheapest place to go?

I've found that outlet prices, especially on shoes aren't that great. I do just as well if not better shopping sales, using coupon and stores that will price match ads or some online sites. Of course, sales and coupons can depend on when you're traveling and where you're going.

We're coming from Australia. Generally your prices - particularly on sports shoes are much cheaper than Australia! So no time to look for sales, coupons etc. We just want to shop and go. We arrive on Monday!

At the Outlet at Orange go to the info booth, show your ID and you get a coupon book. At least the few times I was there I got the coupons tho last time was a over a year ago.

The Citadel Outlets is a true Outlet Mall, and offers a special Shuttle that picks up in multiple locations around Disneyland, including the PPH.

The Outlets at Orange is a mixed use mall, with lots of entertainment, dining, and regular priced shores, plus a decent selection of Outlets. You can use the ART system to get there.

For sports, I would head to the Citadel Outlets, which has multiple sports outlets, including Nike and Adidas. They also have a Disney Store Outlet.

The same stores at both The Block at Orange or Citadel are going to have the same prices on the same items. A lot of items were made for the stores. As far as real outlet finds go, there's going to be very few, but it's impossible to say which one will have what on any given day. If you're looking for specific brands, check the store list. I think The Citadel has spread out so much that it might be hard to navigate without a car. I now sometimes park on one end, then move my car. Maps of both are available on their sites. You can see if the stores you want are clustered together more or less at one or the other.

excellent- do they have actual park merchandise?

The one at Citadel usually has a very small selection. I've been there when they had none, but they usually have a small section and a clothes rack. Not sure about the other outlet mall.

If you have the time to travel an hour or so further (heading towards Thousand Oaks, just up from LA and Malibu) check out Camarillo Premium Outlets, which can be found just off the I-101 freeway. There is also a Disney outlet store included within the current setup (at least as of October 2016, when my wife and I visited) and the prices are much keener and quite a bit lower even more than at The Block at Orange, Citadel and other "outlet" store areas close to Anaheim. A rental car is probably your best bet to go there, though I would think taxi firms such as Karmel and Uber would probably try to do you a deal.

There are a lot of Outlets in the area, my favorite, especially for high end is the combination of the Cabazon and Desert Hills Outlets (next door to each other), located east of the Southland heading towards Palm Springs on the I-10. Here is a link to a tour company that offers a tour on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Anaheim.

And using the train (AMTRAK/Metrolink), you can reach The Outlets at San Clemente, the Carlsbad Outlets, and even the Las Americas Outlets at the Mexican Border (Another one of my favorites).

Now, of course, the farther away we get from Anaheim, the longer it will take to get there.

Here is a list of easy to access Shopping from the Disneyland area using public transit.

what are the san clemente outlets like? I will be near there.... but I am most interested in disney outlet
merch.

The San Clemente Outlets is the newest in the area, and nice. A traditional outlet mall (The landlord is the same as the Citadel Outlets).

But as someone else mentioned, the best thing to do is to go to the website of each location, and check out the store directory to see if there are places that interest you.

I stopped by the Citadel today. They had a few Diamond Celebration items such as scarves, shirts, and phone cases.

Citadel have a shuttle check their website for details

We usually have a car but have done the shuttle to Citadel before was excellent

The Citadel Outlet Shuttle has multiple stops, one is at the Paradise Pier Hotel (Designed for all three Disney Hotel guests). Nice to be dropped off near your room, and they do offer some nice perks in return for the fee they charge. I listed the link for the shuttle info earlier in this thread.

Thanks everyone. We went to the Citadel Outlets today and could barely carry all our shopping! We used Lyft both ways because we didn't want to go at the shuttle times. Worked very well.
