Best Options for last minute ADRs?

A co-worker just approached me for advice on her upcoming Disney vacation... in one month. She doesn't have any ADRs, and though she doesn't seem interested in making several, I wanted to give her some options. Her traveling party consists of her, her husband and his 5 year old son. It's their first time ever going. They are staying off-site and plan on visiting each park.

I'm thinking late lunches before returning to their resort or late dinners (after the nap, before the fireworks) would work best.

Any suggestions on kid friendly places that would still have decent availability?

Thanks!

I just put in a random date next month to see what was available at 1-3pm...

CP at MK may have some times open still.
H&V at DHS for the characters, but the food is NOT good IMHO.
Kona Cafe at the Poly.

That's tough being so close to the date. Not many great options left, but they could continue to try booking them to see if there are cancellations at places like Garden Grill and Chef Mickey's. There's also walk-up if they are brave! ;)
Best of luck!

Tusker House-characters are there for breakfast (ends at 10:30am) but the food is great and a nice break from the parks for lunch and dinner. Certain times for lunch come with reserved seating for Nemo, which is nice.

Keep checking online as you never know when something might open up.

We had 3 dinner reservations before we left for vacation, and decided when we got down there that we wanted 2 more. This was two weeks ago, so already in full spring break swing. There were a lot of restaurants with availability, although anything in the parks was either super early or super late. We ended up doing an 8:00 at Cape May Cafe (same day reservation) and 6:30 at Kona Cafe (day before reservation).

They will definitely have better luck if they are willing to go to other resorts to eat. We love to see the other resorts, so this wasn't an issue for us.
