Please help me know the best way to get from RPR to IOA for early entry into WWOHP. We will be there Jan 6 - 8, 2012 for our first trip!

The walk is very pleasant. It will take 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk. If you have mobility issues you could take the boat.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

The walking path is marked in red in the pic below. RPR is at the bottom, entrance to IoA at the top.

I think the beginning of the path is marked, but it's really just a direct path between the hotel and City Walk/IOA and Universal Studios parks. Easy path to follow (watch out for the surrey bikes) day or night-well lit at night too.

The hotel staff at check in was very helpful and explained, before I even asked, (and gave us a map) of how and when to get to the parks for early entry. (We checked in a week ago today and checked out on Tuesday.) We left the hotel about 40-50 minutes before opening and had time to walk there, my brother upgraded annual passes and we bought tickets for six of us and still waited about 5 to 10 minutes before they opened 15 minutes before announced rope drop time.

Are there signs along the path? Thanks!

You wont need signs. I think maybe calling it a path could be confusing to some, it's a large beautiful sidewalk with lots of people strolling back and forth. You can see the IOA park on your left (and the water as a pp pointed out). No need for signs. :)

You can see the parts of the sidewalk that aren't marked over in red in the above photo. Just follow alone the canal all the way to the hotel. We never take the route in the above photo (going from the front of the hotel) but actually catch the path from the pool area. A lot depends on what tower you are staying in.

Thanks! Do you think leaving the hotel around 7:30 for 8:00 AM early entry would be enough time? We'll be there on Saturday, Jan. 7 and Sunday, Jan. 8.

Leaving at 7:30 for 8 a.m. entry if you are walking yes, if you have to wait on the boat probably. We just missed the boat one day and it had to go and drop off and then come back for us. Not a long wait, but a wait.

Be aware though, the day we went for early entry, they opened the gate for us about 15 minutes earlier than posted early entry time.

I'd leave a few minutes earlier than that because the crowds will probably still be pretty heavy. Try to be at the gates by about 7:30, so leave at about 7:20.
