I know the best way would be by plane ...

... where going at the end of April by car but i do not know what would be the best way from Montreal to Orlando.

I95 or I81 and then I95 after VA ?

Thanx

:bounce: I drive every year. From Montreal I'd probably go 401 to #81-#77-#26-#95-#4 to Orlando. This is the way I go. You might try Hwy #15 to #87-#88-#81-#77-#26-#95-#4.

I don't know #87 or #88 but maybe you do. I definately would not go #95 until as far south as you can. It is very busy. The route I take is beautiful. Mostly in the Valley of mountains (in mountain area). Very little traffic, no large cities. I have gone other ways and like it best.

Your most direct route is 1-87 to NJ Tpk to 1-95 to Wash DC and points south...true, it is busier but the only really important consideration is to remember from NY to Wash is only 4 hours (without traffic) and you just need to avoid a rush hour in this window...ie driving it from 10 am to 2 pm you'll be fine....or 8 pm to 12 midnite etc....

In fact, it's worth noting that you can completely by-pass Philly on this route, 1-95 thru Baltimore never really slows down much even at rush hour....your only big worry about traffic is Wash DC which I would be exceptionally careful of....use the Beltway and avoid weekday rush hour!

Also, if you take the I-81 route, you must worry about terrible lake effect snow (probably worse than Buffalo's but doesn't get the publicity!) which can hit bad anytime in winter and anywhere from Binghamton NY on up to the Cdn border (a 170 mile stretch), and of course can really slow you down and make for some very taxing time behind the wheel.

Good luck!

to pick up a copy of Drive I-95 by Sandra Phillips and Stan Posner. It's a great book that will give you all of the information you need about hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. at each exit, no matter where you get on that highway.

BTW...we took Jersey Shark's route in 2002 and it worked great for us.
