best option for family that needs 4 - 5 hotel rooms?

We are thinking about a trip in Nov or Dec 2019 (a year+ away) - just starting to think about logistics. We will have a mini family reunion of sorts. Ideally, 4 - 5 hotel rooms all in the same are of a resort. How do you think we should proceed? We want to be near each other, not necessarily connecting rooms - but close enough that we can let the kids walk to the other rooms.

If we reserve WAY in advance, do we have any better odds of getting the rooms near each? What sorts of things should we request?

What if I put them all in one name? Does that help? Like under ONE reservation?

We have never needed more than 2 rooms before, so I am not sure how it will all work out. All suggestions and tips welcome!! Thanks in advance

When making your reservation make sure they put "traveling with" on the reservation. We've always had 1 person make the reservation, so I don't know how it works with multiple reservations. Booking early does not give you an advantage. Rooms are simply assigned as they become clean and available. Most people are not staying a single night, so your expectation of all being next to each other is probably going to be met with disappointment. Resorts like port Orleans french quarter are smaller, so at least no one would be too far. Sometimes we will have people only 5 to 6 doors away, while other times a completely different floor.

I would say if you book preferred rooms at a value or moderate you would be as good as your going to get for being near each other. At least they'll be in the same or adjacent buildings.

See if you can find someone getting married around that time. They usually have a block of rooms reserved for a good price :D

It depends upon your budget somewhat. If going value you could book preferred for everyone or Little Mermaid rooms at AoA. That would mean all being in only a two building possible spread. In a moderate, you can reduce the possible distance between rooms by staying in POFQ (small size) and all staying in river view or pool view. You could still be fairly far apart, but it is narrowed down a bit. OR POR RR with a pool view might get you even closer together. If deluxe, staying club level at the CR would put you all on the same floor and the same side as long as you all book the same view. You get the idea. Book something that is a bookable category in the resort that is limited in area.

Of course, you would book all rooms as 'travelling with' and request rooms as close together as possible.

good luck!

POR Preferred.

Thank you! That was poorly worded. I have edited the post to be clearer.

I meant closer together not closer to the food court. Most of the pool view RR rooms are all on one side of oak Manor. They are all pretty close together, except for one outlier over in Parterre place.

You can link reservations...with each family making their own. We’ve traveled with family in 4 rooms at AKL and been all in a row with 1 across the hall - 3 savannah view and 1 not. We’ve also camped in 3 sites at FW and been put next to each other.

Might look into renting points for a DVC grand villa (or two). They sleep 12. touringplans.com also has resort maps that you can search specific room types and see how many different buildings you could potentially end up in (or if a specific room type is only in one building), as the previous responses have suggested. For example, OKW 3 bedroom standard views are spread out all over. OKW 3 bedroom near hospitality house are only in one building (2 of them, on level 2, next to each other). You can select specific building to see where the room option is and how many in that building there are.

I would have everyone book their own rooms, and have the reservations linked.

There aren't that many Grand Villas, and they run from 349 OKW Value Season to 1419 Grand Floridian Premier Season. Quantity range from 36 at SSR to six at VGF. And they're probably not near each other

Total resortwide there are fewer than 170 Grand Villas. Out of over 25,000 rooms.

If you rent DVC points and stay at one of the larger resorts you can request a specific section. At OKW the HH is the hardest to get. But maybe you could all request turtle pond or Millers Road, We have always stayed South Point. It is a big resort so it shouldn't be to hard to at least get the same section.
