A co-worker of mine is planning to visit WDW in Dec. '08, with a big family group (DH, DS(2), parents. in-laws, etc. the works...)

She would prefer to stay on-site. What would be her best options? Are there any villas for extended groups?

Thanks in advance,

Luis Rodriguez

There are vacation club villas. They are found at the Old Key West, Boardwalk Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Beach Club Villas, and Saratoga Springs Resorts.

They can accomodate up to twelve at some of those locations. Old Key West will give them the largest (square footage) accomodations. There are grand villas (twelve person) there. They may be tricky to reserve though as they are quite popular (the grand villas, I mean).

Have them check into the vacation club villas if you think it might suit their needs. (You don't have to be a vacation club member to stay there).

Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on.:santa:

They may want to look into staying in multiple rooms at the same resort. This allows them to spend family time together in addition to the privacy and space that is sometimes needed at the end of the day.

Our family of 4 (me, dh, dd16 and ds15) recently stayed at POR and had connecting rooms ~ it was fantastic for our family :thumbsup2 Everyone had their own bed, there was NEVER a fight for the bathroom, we had enough storage for clothes and toiletries, AND it was more affordable than a deluxe or DVC property because of a discount offer.

We're already planning our next trip with the kids and we have 2 rooms booked at CSR :woohoo: Traveling this way is a win win.

Happy holidays :santa:

There are DVC owners that will rent there points to stay at the villas. Mousesavers.com has a good forum.

She might be able to get a studio, one bedroom or two bedroom. But, unless she is a member OR has a member making the reservation at exactly 11 months out (and calling day by day), she will not be getting a three bedroom villa. They are limited in number and go very quickly, especially in Dec when points are lower and lots of members plan their trips.

One more think to consider, if she decides to rent a reservation from a member, Disney will not be involved in the reservation in any way. So if there are problems or family members back out, she will still owe the member for the reservation and she may have to pay it all by cash as soon as the reservation is made. It's all up to the member.

Also, she probably will have to take into account whether or not everyone is in the same financial situation. So, for example, if a few of the people can only afford to do Value, and the entire group wants to be together, than, they'd need to go connecting rooms @ a Value vs. connecting rooms at a moderate or DVC.
