OK, I've used shutterfly.com for my wedding photos, but it is a pain to email out that whole long URL anytime I want someone to take a look.
Shutterfly: http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeANW7Fq4atWzro

I have another site, imageevent.com, that my mom pays for ($30/year) and that we can make our own URL for, but I don't want to pay--I want it to be free!
ImageEvent: http://imageevent.com/kpoelzer/weddingphotos
(see how much easier that is!?)

Does anyone have any other info on:
www.ofoto.com
www.snapfish.com
www.imagestation.com
www.photobucket.com
www.webshots.com (I think this site charges too)

Do you know of any other sites I can look into?

I'm looking for insight, reviews, any information you think may be helpful. I realize that I will probably have to be satisfied with sending out a huge link from any free site I choose or bite the bullet and pay for one, but even then I would like to know any reviews!

Does anyone know why www.tinyurl.com won't work on my links from shutterfly??

Thanks for all of your help, I really, really appreciate it!!!
Katie Mae

I use Fotki and am very pleased with it, I have paid 30 a year for their premium account, but I have unlimited storage

Webshots does offer a limited account, I dont remember exactly how many though.
I did buy a premium account with Webshots since I add lots of pictures (over 700 alone from WDW this year)
I also use it for wallpaper and my screensaver. They offer gorgeous photos to download.
edited to add
I also use Snapfish for my digital printing. But there you have to send an invitation to each person to view the album. I like Webshots better for general sharing since you can just send a link. I use Snapfish mainly for my own printing and for my out-of-state SIL who always wants prints. With Snapfish she can order whatever she wants.

The Great Hall is where we had both our ceremony and reception in St Paul, MN. Both DH and I fell in love with the place on our first tour and booked it immediately!

I've used snapfish and ofoto and been pleased with them both, for ordering prints and having others look at the pix. I don't think you can paste URL's from either of them. I usually just use their invite tools. In fact I'm uploading pix right now from my dd's birthday party last weekend.

Not that it would be easy for you to do, but I actually host my own site http://www.fulcer.net but it's not that easy.

Most of the sites that I know of are pay sites - it helps you avoid the popup ads and allows them to offer decent services. I think you have a good thing with Imageevent - in the grand scheme of things, $30 to have that for a year seems like a good deal to me.

Oh, and BTW, those were some tall heels you wore for your wedding...as my DW would say "Didn't your feet get tired??"

My shoes were so tacky! I just loved them! I did wear them all night, but my toes were numb for 2 days after the wedding! Oh well, it was worth it. If I took them off I would have tripped on my dress and think of the damage that could have caused! Besides, DH is 6'9" and I am 5'2" and I wanted to look like his bride, not his little sister:)

We use Fotki too - the free area has a fair amount of space, for $30 per year we were able to post 10 days of vacation photos - every single one of them and that was less than 1/2 our space. Very user friendly too.

We've used Ofoto and Imagestation, and were pleased with both. Both were easy to use and the quality of pictures were good.

Cute pictures!!!

Great pictures, Katie Mae. How did you decide on that one for your signature with so many good ones??

You and Dan have the same height difference as Marie and me, she is 5' 1/2", I am 6' 6".

You both are a great looking couple. Did you decide on a photo site yet??

OK, so my plan is to upload a small disc of 30 photos--mostly of our house and puppy, Q to each of the free sites and do trials at webshots and fotki (I already know what imageevent is like) then I will see which I like best for sharing. I'll probably also get prints at the sites that give new member 10 or 15 prints and compare the quality. I really love pictures but never get around making albums or scrapbooks so I think I will probably pay for a site so that I can do this longterm and have unlimited space--but I don't want to give up on free yet!

I was hoping to do the uploading this weekend, but DH and I went to the Great MN Get Together--the State Fair and then I worked on a wedding photo book on MyPublisher for most of the day on Sunday--wow, I didn't think it would take that long! (I should have it by the end of the week and will post a review if you're interested on doing this for WDW trips or other events!)

So, I'm still looking for reviews and advice on other sites. Also, I am thinking of buying Paint Shop Pro 7.0--what do you all think of that??

Thanks,
Katie Mae

Thank you everyone for your nice compliments on our wedding photos. I posted the links just so you could better understand what I was talking about with my non-techie lingo of "easy URL" but I was pleasantly surprised that so many of you took a peek!
Thanks again!

Katie Mae,

I had a little time and did a little research as to why TinyURL won't work. It's just a tad technical, but it's because the last part of the URL is Shutterfly running a query to find your pages, but TinyURL only works on straight text URLS with no 'additional' parameters. If you look at the top of your address window for the DISBoards, you can see things like "newreply.php?s=&action=newreply." Those are telling the DIS 'what to do', and would not work with TinyURL either.

That's why if you try to create a TINYUrl from your imageevent page it works (try http://tinyurl.com/4v45o).

Still IMHO, it is worth it to 'pay' for a site. Pay sites are more likely to be around for a longer period of tiem.

Aahh...that makes sense. Thanks for digging into that! I'll figure it all out one of these days, or at least I'll be able to pretend that I did:)
Thanks again!
