Which of these would you choose...Fairfield, HOJO's, Desert Inn & Suites, Castle Inn & Suites. Looking for clean first and most important. Then proximity. I think Tropicana and Best western PPI were full. Any other across the street one I am missing?

Next question, when staying off site, do they let you park early and leave your bags to make it for park opening?

Thanks!

Hi! We always stay at Hojo. Yes, the housekeepers provide excellent service and it's very clean. The customer service is wonderful. The pool/water area and gift shop are amazing! I know they allow you to store your bags. Not sure about the parking thing.

Try Park Vue Inn! They are directly across Harbor from Disneyland. I think PVI is even closer than Best Western PPI because it's right on the crosswalk. It's our go-to motel when we don't stay on-site. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the decor is updated and modern. The free breakfast is just okay, but plentiful. They have free parking and will let you park early even if your room isn't ready. Their customer service is awesome!

Another vote for Park Vue Inn. We were there for 5 nights last week and found the rooms/pool to be clean and the staff diligent. Really can't beat if for access to the parks. And I actually enjoyed the free breakfast quite a bit.

We arrived a few hours before check-in and were able to park in their lot while we visited the parks. :)

Hojo's for sure! From your listed I've only stayed at DI&S and Hojos. Hojo's is clean and well kept. Though DI&S is clean it seems bit more worn. Hojo's definitely has better pools and free parking. The beds are amazing. Keurig coffee makers in the rooms. Staff that go above and beyond. The store is well stocked. It has more of a resort feel than the others. Its also a hotel, with indoor corridors vs the others which all are motels with exterior corridors. I like that my room doesn't just open up onto the parking lot. The only area DI&S wins is in location. But the difference is only 5 minutes walking. And yes we have checked into the Hojo early, parked the car, and gone to the parks or the pool while we waited for our room to be ready. We've also checked out and left the car for a few hours while we go to the parks.

Here is my question. Do you have small kids? Under 10? I would for sure go with HOJO if the answer is yes. My kids LOVED the little waterpark they had when we went. We would take an afternoon break each afternoon and do the waterpark (this was summertime, FYI). If no kids, or you are going when it will be cold, the I am with Candy Cane Inn as others have said. Free breakfast, free shuttle, nice pool and hottub. All around clean and great. Good luck with your choice!

Another vote for HOJO. This year will be our third stay. Rooms are large, bed are super comfy, VERY clean, great walk distance and the pools are awesome.

Love the Candy Cane Inn when we are not staying on-site! All the things previously mentioned and it's like a little oasis!

My order for staying offsite is:

1. Candy Cane Inn
2. Hilton
3. Hojo's or Residence Inn Maingate
4. Hyatt Place
5. Residence Inn on Katella
6. Homewood Suites on Katella
7 Doubletree

While I have stayed at almost all of the motels on the Harbor strip, I've "outgrown" most of them due to aging. As I have gotten older, I need more from a room than a hard bed and flat pillows.

But when was the last time you stayed at Park Vue Inn? Like you, we tend to stay on-site, but I thought the remodeled rooms at PVI were quite contemporary and the bedding was very comfortable.

Out of the ones listed, I've stayed at HoJo and Castle. HoJo is everything everyone else said. Castle on the other hand, while it's totally fine as a hotel, at the end of the night, it was just almost a bit too far. This is when walking with kids, keep in mind. After walking all day through the parks, you really sort of notice that extra block, haha. So while I had no issues with the hotel itself, I likely wouldn't stay there again because at the end of the day walking it felt like a long walk (though if I left the kids at home it would be a different story.) It's also not really far enough to justify a cab, so it's in that grey zone.

That makes sense. That was before their remodel.
The only other one I had previously liked was the Carousel. And Fairfield. But I've gotten older, and I enjoy being in the room in addition to the park, so I haven't gone back to the rooms I didn't care for. But I also don't care for the Grand! But I will try their renovated rooms one day.

Give it a few more years and the rooms will be REALLY renovated. Apparently they are going to do a huge remodel with 10 stories and a floor for smaller sized conferences.
