Looking for opinions on the best off site hotel. We just got back from four days at DL and stayed on site at the DLH. We had a great time and the hotel and service were wonderful, but we'd like to go again in December and can't really justify spending the money on DLH again, since we just went!
Thanks in advance for any tips!!

I liked the Howard Johnson hotel when I stayed there. A lot of people will suggest that. The staff is friendly there and the service is great. The Anaheim Hilton is nice, but a far walk from the park. Sure you have the transit, but if you miss it, you'd be better off staying across the street somewhere that's a short walk from the entrance. Good luck! :sunny:

We have just returned from spending 18 nights at the Sheraton Park Hotel and it was fantastic. We were on the 10th floor overlooking the parks and the view was amazing, we could even see Tinkerbell flying when the fireworks were on.
The beds are "sweetsleepers" and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.It is within walking distance of the parks or there is the ART bus if you prefer.
I would stay here again and certainly recommend it.
Love Ella

The Fairfield Inn is reight across the street from the park. from the balcony you can see the park and watch the fireworks. The rooms are clean and spacious. The best part is they have specials for $79 a night in the off season.

I second the HoJo. We have been staying there every summer for the past 8 years, our honeymoon this year, and my birthday a few years ago. We love them.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn in early March '06 and the rooms were very nice, great pool and cont. breakfast and the shuttle ran on schedule twice an hour to and from. The two shuttle drivers we encountered were really nice, helped with strollers, etc. We are going back in November '06 and booking the Candy Cane Inn (CCI) again. We loved it!

Candy cane gets my families vote. The breakfast is good, the shuttle is excelent, and the walk isnt bad if you miss the shuttle or dont want to wait, and the grounds are really pretty.

Our favourite is the Candy Cane. There are lots of good hotels in the area but CCI wins "the best in the bunch" in my book! :cloud9:

A couple of suggestions. If you want to stay close to the resort, CCI. We love staying on-site but will stay at CCI on transistion/going home days.

Another thing you might consider is Maingate Residence Inn or Embassy Suites. We stay at either one of those places a lot during the off season. The park closes early (DCA at 6, DL at 8) during the week so we really enjoy going back to a place that gives us a lot of room. The free breakfast at both is fantastic (cook to order) and both have free food in the afternoons. At RI, there is actually a manager's reception every weeknight--one night we had hamburgers, another was chili. At Embassy, the reception consists primarily of snack food but you get free cocktails! We save quite a bit of money staying at these places--only have to buy one meal at the resort. At RI, they have wonderful suite arrangements--we like the loft one. Kids stay downstairs in a room, we have a king bedroom upstairs with a separate bath! Also three t.v.s so EVERYONE is happy!

We just stayed at the Carousel. It's right across the street from the park entrance and with our AAA discount it was $89/night. They have a continental breakfast and a pool (not Olympic size or anything, but it served its purpose for our 6 and 8 year old boys).

We always stay at the Desert Inn. It's not the greatest hotel, but it is right across the street. We always get there Parlor Suite, so my DH has his own area to stay up late and watch TV.

Can I just say LOLOLOLOL at your siggie picture and comment. I first glanced at the pic and thought, "They don't look to thrilled..." and then read your comment! :rotfl2:

We are a family of 5 and we just spent 4 nights at the Portofino Inn and Suites. It was clean, staff friendly and the kid's suite was nice and spacious! We had a view of the backside of DCA. It was quite a trek to the park though. If you don't need as much space as we do, I also recommend the Candy Cane. It has consistently rec'd great reviews for about 15 years!

My DS and I are staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel which is one of the Disneyland resort Good neighbor hotels. I got it through Priceline for $70 a night and it's a three star resort. The rooms are really nice and the beds super comfy with pillow top matresses and down comforters and lots of pillows. It's located on Harbor/Chapman and I can hear the fireworks at Disneyland from our room. This is our last trip to the Disneyland resort for awhile because when we leave here Saturday we drive straight to Texas to our new permanent home.

I always stayed at the Park Vue Inn (will be there again end of August) It's a very shot walk (you just cross the street), rooms are clean, staff is friendly.

Which Embassy suites? North or south?

Thanks for all the tips!
Now we have to decide what we should do.
I want to stay onsite again, but since we have been already this year and are going to Disneyworld, I think its just too much. But we might anyways!

Anyone know what the conceirge level is like at paradise pier? Hows the food? (We are NOT light eaters!)

Thanks again, all you guys are AWESOME!!

Just one more suggestion...it's where we are staying. It's a little farther away but the ART takes you there. The Residence Inn Resort (technically it is in Garden Grove). It is 1mile I think from the DLR. It has gotten great Trip Advisor reviews...and some friends of ours highly recommended it to us. It's got kids suites with a livingroom, kitchen(great for keeping things cold or a quick snack...I won't be cooking dinners :teeth: )and two seperate bedrooms(one for you with a king or 2 Queens and a kids room with their own bathroom, bunkbeds, TV and table. It also includes the breakfast like the residence inn maingate, as well as an evening reception of sorts. This place is pretty new and has a larger pool I believe. I don't know if this is too far away for you...but just thought I'd mention it. With all the researching we did...we did lots and lots....we liked this the best as offsite.

Do you know the cost of this particular kind of room?

Well, we went through WDTC...so it's in a package...but when we researched it I think it ran around $199. I'm not sure how big your family is. But there are 6 of us. DH, me, DS5,DS3 and my dad and stepmom. This gives us 2 bathrooms and room for all plus all of our breakfasts are taken care of. It was cheaper to do it this way then to get 2 seperate rooms(because we have 6). Plus at night/nap time we don't have to sit there on beds silent for the kids to sleep. They have their own room to sleep in and we can hang out in the main room. I don't know if this helps....I know they have AAA discount, but we couldn't use that with WDTC.

Whoops...sorry Lola...I see now that you probably knew all of that stuff about the benefits...now that I read your post again. It's also right next to a couple of resturants and Target and next door at the Hyatt there is a starbucks :teeth: Also they have a kids theatre that shows disney movies on the weekends.
