Arriving at a late flight with kids. Wanted to stay off-site for a night and then the next morning we can check-in at Grand Floridian. Would prefer hotels closer to GF. Any suggestions?

Any type of budget you want to stay in? You could always try priceline. Also, the LaQuinta Inn usually gets decent reviews, and it's usually very budget friendly. If it's just a place to sleep, I'd very much so consider it.

May I suggest...staybridge suites LBV. Just returned from a great Disney/Universal/St. Pete Beach vacation. Used Staybridge Suites for the first time...2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom using Orlando Magic card rate was $119/night (free parking/free internet access/free breakfast). Within walking distance of restaurants/grocery/liquor :3dglasses. Maybe 1/4 mile to the WDW entrance-downtown disney area.

Thanks! Budget-wise, I think $200 USD max per room (2 rooms) or $300 for a two-bedroom suite?

I wanted to be as close to GF as possible. Wanna to drop off luggage at GF in the next morning, get our KTTW cards and head off to parks (oh, also return rental car prior to that).

DanenRox, the rate for Staybridge looks good. How can I apply for Orlando magic card?

I recommend the Buena Vista Suites. We got a great rate throught Dreams Unlimited...$85/night, free hot breakfast buffet (eggs, ham, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, fruit, cereal), and a $25 voucher for their onsite restaurant. We stayed there for two nights this past weekend and loved it. It is undergoing renovations, so they were working (pretty quietly, just a little hammering) about 8:30-9am in the morning, but there are no renovations on the floors that are being stayed in. Actually are 1 bedroom/living room suite had just been renovated and we were the first people to be staying in that room! Very nicely redone, staff was very friendly, breakfast was pretty darn good. I would definitely stay there again. And it is only <5 minutes from Disney.
Oh, and the pool area was great!

For the magic card, go to orlandoinfo.com It's pretty self explanatory but let me know if you need help. You can just print the magic card off the computer. Our rate was specific to when we went (off season) but see how you do....

  • There are so many places close to WDW, about the same distance to the GF (you will have to go on property, through the MK gates, etc.). Anything in LBV will be fine, and for a one-night stay perhaps the SpringHill Suites in the Marriott Village, or Doubletree DTD.
  • You could also try to Priceline 2 rooms, with your budget I'd say go for the Resort category (3* is hit or miss in the Disney vicinity) and you could get a good deal. Always check the bidding boards (betterbidding, biddingfortravel) first.
  • Another option is the Hyatt at the airport, since you have a late flight. Check right in, then it's about a half hour drive to the GF. FWIW.

How about a Holiday Inn or Express. We are looking to do the same thing (stay one cheap night and then check in early the next day). We have 18000 Holiday Inn points. Is there any Holiday Inn that has stood out in anyones mind? Maybe good or bad? 8 days to Disney!!!!!!

I second this idea. WHen we have a late night arrival or an early departure, nothing beats the Hyatt. So convenient and the kids love it.

Thanks. I think I will go with Hyatt.

A question about Hertz & Hyatt. Say DH goes down to airport the next morning and take the shuttle to Hertz. When he drives the car back ~ where will he pick us up? Does Hyatt has its own "lobby entrance" or pick-up/drop-off area that DH can pull the car aside to load luggages?

Just curious if we have to bring all our luggages back to the airport arrival level or there are some easier way to do that?

The Hyatt has it's own entrance that he can pull right up to. No need to schlep thru the airport. You just take the elevator down to meet him curbside. :thumbsup2
