Are there any off site hotels that are your favorite? I am looking at across the street from Disneyland so it will be a short walk. We have 2 kids so it would be nice to have free breakfast but that's not a deal breaker. Any recommendations?:grouphug:

We love the Best Western Park Place Inn. It's the closest you can get the the gates. They have breakfast. I have heard a lot of good things about Park Vue. They have breakfast and a light dinner.

My preference would be the Candy Cane, in the premium rooms. It isn't the closest (10 min walk) but they have a dedicated shuttle that runs ON TIME. It will leave at the top and bottom of the hour, and it picks up at the 15 and 45.

Across the street, my preference would be the Carousel.

I like the Best Western PPI. Right across the street from DL. It has a free breakfast, but I read it's going to be redone to be better soon.

I also really like the HoJo it's down the street, but took DH and I about 5 minutes walking. It doesn't have free breakfast, but has a nice little store that sells food items for pretty reasonable prices.

We love the Best Western PPI as well. We were there about 3 weeks ago and they are also renovating the rooms besides making the breakfast better.

We like the Park Vue, good free breakfast and light dinner, very close, clean rooms. Negative is that their prices have gone up.
We also like the Carousel inn and suites. Also has free breakfast but just cold options. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. Also very close and we have gotten a good deal the last 2 times on a concierge room. We will be staying here again in March.

Yet another vote for BWPPI :thumbsup2

I love the short walk to/from the Park, the comfy beds, the couch/table area, microwave & fridge in the rooms (makes in-room meals alot easier, helps to cut $$$ from the food budget), and the convenience of the free breakfast. The only thing that I'm kind of unimpressed with is the pool area (tiny & not exactly atmospheric...it's surrounded on 3 sides with rooms...but it's clean, and there's a hot tub, so it's not terrible!).

Just as a heads up the closest off-site properties are better described as motels, not hotels. If you want a hotel feel, you'll have to walk 10-15 minutes down to the conference center hotels (Marriott, Hilton, Doubletree). I think the Embassy Suites, Sheraton, and one or two other hotels have shuttles that run regularly to the parks. Could be wrong about the shuttles, but we didn't mind the walk from the Marriott and often stay on points when we're off-site so its not really something we look at anymore.

If you're okay with motels, then BW PPI is the closest, though I prefer the Fairfield Inn a few doors down since it felt nicer to me. Lots of people like HoJo too, which is one more door down, probably about a 7 minute walk.

I personally think that Hojos (Howard Johnsons) is much nicer than Best Western Park Place Inn. I have stayed at both. Hojos has indoor corridors, and is more of a "hotel" experience rather than a motor coach motel like BWPPI. BWPPI felt dirty and uncomfortable and unsafe to me. Maybe we just got a really bad room? I am not sure why other people like it over the other motels along Harbor besides it's proximity to the parks.

Hojos doesn't have a free breakfast, but does have a Keurig coffee machine in every room. Next door there is a really good Mimi's and next to that is McDonalds, which has a good breakfast. I really like the beds there and found the rooms to be very quiet as far as hearing your neighbors. Although I could hear freeway noise, I barely heard anything from any other people staying there. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the rooms are very large.

I have also stayed at Candy Cane Inn, which is more of an old fashioned motor coach. You park in front of your room (if driving). The rooms are very small and outdated, but the feeling of the motel is very safe and family friendly. I actually loved the shuttle--we used it the whole time we stayed there, even though the walk isn't that far. It made it very easy, and helped to insulate you from Harbor Blvd., which can be kind of depressing.

Between all 3 I like Hojos the best.

I haven't stayed at the HoJo for 10 years, so I can't give an opinion on that, but I can tell you why I like the BWPPI. I like that it is SOOO close! We seem to go back and forth a lot, and it makes it more convenient. I like the little sitting area in the rooms. I also think the microwave/fridge in every room is nice. We also like to pay cash for our room, and they allow us to do this, and I don't remember any hold being put on our card. We have always had good service, and I have never felt unsafe. Once we stayed here, we decided that we would always stay right at the cross walk. Could be we are also super lazy?!?!?
