We are spending 12 days at AS Sports in November and altho we have stayed there a few times in the past I still need someone's expertise as to the best place for us to stay.

I have mobility problems and need to be near the bus stop and parking lot. We do not hear well so noise is not a concern. I would prefer not to pay the extra $10 a night for a 'preferred' view. I like it there well enough but never found a 'view' in the past and have never opened the drapes to look for one. LOL Near a quiet pool would be great but not necessary. Will have to do laundry a couple of times while there so that is a consideration as I am a bit slow. I know, I am far too picky. But I do not require everything just as much as I can reasonably get.

Thank you for your opinons and help.

In the AS Sports resort, the closest building to the dining, buses, laundry & lobby is the Surfs Up building. Neither of the 2 pools are really quiet. But you are nearer to the bigger of the 2 so its more likely to be noisy-- but if thats not an issue with you I wouldnt worry. I'm not sure about the proximity to the parking lot though. When you make your reservations, or even afterwards, just call & tell the reservationist which building you would prefer to stay in. Also , if you give them a reason, not just that "I want this building" they're more likely to take your request more seriously, although the 2 times we stayed there we didnt have any problems getting what we asked for. Hope this is helpful & have a great time!

Hi Princess

Thank you so much for responding. We have stayed at Surf's Up before and liked it for convenience but I am thinking that Surf's Up and Touchdown are probably the bldgs that cost $10 more a night. I am willing to stay in the back of the bldg with a parking lot view in order not to pay more. Some resorts are worth the good view but the AS do not fit that criteria in our book.

Rather have the extra money to stay an extra 2 days.

We have requested the Touchdown building for September. Touchdown is not considered a "preferred" building, so there is no extra charge. The only buildings with extra charge are Surfs Up. When I spoke to the CM they told me Touchdown was the next best....without paying extra. Good Luck.

We stayed at the Surfs up building our first time, no extra charge. We didnt request it though. We requested a king sized bed & thats where we ended up. But the next best bldg would be the touchdown bldg. A little further but not much. As I said though-- we were not charged extra for the surfs up bldg so I would ask details about that- maybe its just certain rooms, like the ones on the ground floor for handicap accessible etc. Good luck!:D

Princess and tjkatie, thank you both for the response. I have a feeling that the preferred view charge will be abandoned at some point unless a lot of people are willing to pay more to be closer. Since I am somewhat handicapped I usually get a special room, unless they need it for others who need it more so I may just go wherever they decide. I am lucky to be able to get around somewhat and do not like to take away from those who have more problems. I like to plan ahead as it makes things run smoother.

Thank you again (BTW, my oldest granddaughters name is Katie)

The problem with ASSp is the buildings that are really close to the Food Court/Bus are also not close to parking :(. Perhaps something like Baseball 9 would work out best for you. It's not too far away from Stadium Hall and there is parking nearby. Do you have a wheelchair or ECV? That would make things better for you.

FWIW, I stayed in a semi-handicapped accessible room in #6 (Surf's Up) away from the pool. We requested a non-hadicapped king room and got one with grab bars, but without the roll-in shower. It was quite nice and came with a free fridge ;).

We stayed in Baseball 9 section this past May. It is very close to
the parking lot, but further from the bus stop. You might try and
get touchdown, the backside, that is also very close to the parking lot. And not too far from Stadium hall and the bus stop.
When you check in explain your needs and I am sure they will
do everything to accomadate you. I found the CM's to be very
helpful and pleasant on checkin!!

When we stayed at All Star Sports, we were in the Touchdown section. Where we were located, we were closer to the bus stop, the main building, and the pool than most of the people at Surf's Up. It was great.

Baseball is really close to the parking lot and it has the quieter pool. That's where we were and we loved it.

Wow, such a lot of great information. Thank you all so very much. It would probably also matter which room you got in which building. I am going to go back through my records and find where we stayed before and my comments. My mind is not what it used to be and I cannot remember the details the way some of you all seem to.

I have lost 60 pounds so far and am trying to lose another 30 before our trip. It is a long and hard journey but is well worth it.
