I'm looking at Marriott's Barony, Grande Ocean, the new Surfwatch, or Monarch resorts. Which ones have the best ocean view opportunities for exchangers?

Also, which ones have indoor pools?

Thanks for any help.

I'd say Grande Ocean.
Many units there have a good ocean view. However there are quite a few with the view blocked by trees, etc.
(Also note that at Grande Ocean, you get Sea Pines Plantation access).

At Barony, about half the units are back, sort of behind the Westin. Most of the others face inward towards each other. Only some at the ends have a direct ocean view.

At Surf Watch, most of the buildings are a little bit away from the ocean. Last time I saw the resort, only one building had a direct ocean view.

As for indoor pools, both Barony and Grande Ocean have indoor pools, Don't know about Surf Watch or Monarch.

If you're interested in age of the resorts, then:
Monarch is oldest
then Grande Ocean
then Barony Beach
and the newest is Surf Watch (with some buildings probably still under construction)

I agree that it's probably Grande Ocean. However, I like Monarch for the location so....

It depends on when you would go. For an exchanger, Barony is likely to be the worst due to the location of the gardenview units. For Surfwatch prior to Feb, one would likely get an "oceanview" unit, after Feb, likely a gardenview one. Gardenview units there will be superior to Barony gardenview. GO is the premier resort overall. Monarch is in a better location. The bottom line in exchanging to any of these resorts is to expect NO view unless you are truly going off season, Dec to mid March excluding Xmas and NY. Currently GO and Barony have indoor pools, Surfwatch's indoor pool opens in the early Spring somewhere between Feb and April.

All of these resorts would put non Marriott exchangers at the bottom of the list from a unit assignment standpoint.

Thanks, Dean. That helps on what to expect if we exchange in.

The new Marriott at Myrtle Beach looks nice, too.

If you can work a private exchange, that's likely best for both parties.
