Best non-signature TS hotel restuarant?

DH's birthday is on our first full day in the parks. In the few times we've been there, we haven't eaten at very many hotel restaurants. So that is the only request that he has made for his dinner. We're not picky eaters, and enjoy almost all cuisine.

Any suggestions for two people, Saturday night, for a table service dinner at a hotel? The actual "celebration part" (ie, dessert, singing, etc) of the birthday is not as important as food/experience.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice!

We like The Wave a lot. We try to get there on every trip to WDW.

We recently ate at Sanaa for the first time and enjoyed it.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. A good time and good food!

The Wave is one of the best nonsignature hotel restaurants I know! It's very relaxing and has a great menu and service. I really think it is one of the most overlooked restaurants.

I think Kouzzina would be a good choice. After dinner you could spend some time watching the performers on the boardwalk.

We love Ohana (Ohana is more boisterous though) and Boma (but not everyone will love those flavors-my In-laws only thought it so-so)...Also, both the Poly and AKL are really neat to look around

Another vote for Kona. It has a varied menu and we have never had anything we didn't like. It's on our list for this year too. Plus you get to explore the Poly resort.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I'm glad to see some of the restaurants that you guys mentioned since I was considering a few of them.

DH seems pretty happy with the menu at The Wave, so maybe we'll give that a try. Also, I don't think I've ever been inside the contemporary!! We're having lunch at Kona Cafe (after a morning at MK), so I'm glad to see good recommendations for that. We've had Ohana before, and while I loooooved it, DH wasn't the biggest fan. Also, Saana has been a big to-do for me, so I'd just have to get DH on board. I don't know much about Kouzinna, so I'll have to look into that one a little more. We move to the boardwalk towards the end of our stay, so maybe we'll add another TS! Oh man...I'm always changing my ADRs!

Thanks again!

The Wave, it is just like a signture but not as much $$
