best non disney roller coaster for beginners

do you mean in orlando?
in florida?
in the US?
anywhere in the world?

if we're talking only orlando, i don't think any of the coasters are necessarily that 'wimpy'....

if you need super wimpy, i suppose there's the kiddie coaster in toon town in the magic kingdom..

or maybe thunder mountain, also in the magic kingdom....it's a pretty easy coaster...
probably of the various coasters i've been on in orlando, thunder mountain is the 'easiest' (other than kiddie coasters)..

i don't particularly like thunder mountain, but it's not intense...

i'm trying to remember what else there is in orlando....

depending on where you live, there might be a good coaster you could try closer to home...

I think the best good roller coaster is in the kiddie land in Sea World. It was my daughters first.

It gives a good quick ride with out going in a loop.

For an adult...I would say the Wildcat at Cedar Point. Pretty tame and no loops.

i was going to suggest cedar point to the OP if she lives in ohio...

cedar point would be my park of choice for any kind of coaster....
it is the coaster capital of the world after all!!!

at CP, my must do is gemini....after that it's all good....

i haven't been on the new ones built in the last few years though...
my last "new" one was way back with the magnum XL 200......

and by the way, the kiddie coaster at CP is pretty good...
that's the one my kids started on...

I think you have to take into consideration whether it is wooden or not. I think the metal ones give you a smoother ride while the wooden ones are a bit more bumpy and jerky. The first amusement park we took our kids to was Michigan Adventure and my boys were four and six at the time. One of them liked the wooden kind better and the other the metal kind. Just another thing to think about.
