My husband and I are trying to plan a disney cruise for our family. We are wondering what the best month for the cruise is....for good weather and reasonable prices. Thank you! ::MickeyMo

We have heard May is a great month to cruise. We will soon find out. Otherwise, we have cruised in August (very hot), December and January. The seas were rough in the winter both times and it is just not the same being cold and the water is cold.

We have done one DCL (Eastern) in October and the weather was wonderful! We did a Celebrity in Dec (Western) and had pretty good weather. Made all the ports, but Roatan was a bit cloudy and windy (still got our scuba dives in though). The last cruise was another DCL at Christmas (Eastern again, 10day) and the CC and Key West was a bit cold, but not bad.

Our next one will be the double CC cruise next May! It promises to be wonderful!!

We went at the end of May last year and had perfect weather every day (Western itinerary)! My only small complaint would be that the water was a little chilly still at Castaway Cay, but not to the point where I wouldn't go in. We will probably stick to May for future cruises...

went in the end of march last year (western), and had great weather! :flower:

our absolute favorite cruise is the 7-day cruise just before the official Christmas cruise....about December 15

1) ship is decorated beautifully for the holidays
2) weather great
3) excellent value season pricing

Any one sail in November? How's the weather and the water (temp and otherwise) then? Sorry to jump on your post here cabrennan!!! :sunny: ;)

When we sailed in August, we had great weather. Well, except for that nasty hurricane that kept us out to sea for four extra days...but we weren't complaining.

Yeah, it was hot on shore but it was hot in November too. November was nice too but the sea was a lot rougher and we had more rain.

The best month in which to cruise is...ANY month!! Okay, so other than a bad day on a DCL ship beats a good day at the office, I will confess we've sailed in January twice and while we have never missed CC (so for other threads seriously criticizing the Captain, ) the water there was too cold for swimming, and the gulf stream was pretty rough on 1/16, so ditch January if you can...but on the other hand, if January, just as an example, was the only time you could go, or could find pricing that was within your budget,...then go for the january cruise for sure!!
:jumping1: So, did I make it clear I think DCL is a pretty great vacation, even though I can recognize the imperfections...

I've sailed in May and November and we were blessed with wonderful weather on both. For the May cruise the seas were a bit rough the first night, but other than that the weather was perfect.

In November it was a little chilly the first night pulling away from port. Nothing that a sweatshirt couldn't cure. The rest of the week was great. A bit overcast in the morning on Grand Cayman, and a surprise rain shower that soaked the kids playing on the sports deck one night were about the worst we saw. Oh, one of the at sea days was very windy, there were a lot of hats blowing off people's heads on the top deck that day. But, we've booked another November cruise, so it obviously wasn't all that bad :sunny:

I don't know about best but December has worked well for us. Prices are good if you go the first two weeks, no hurricane risk, and the weather was just about perfect.

We've sailed many times in September and last year sailed last week in May.

September is always wonderful. The weather is still nice and warm :sunny: and the prices can't be beat. The only down side is it is prime hurricane season. BUT, the captain will always keep you safe. You just may have a suprise port if something is brewing out there.

End of May was georgeous. Water is a little more chilly than September, but still very nice.

Here's another vote for May. We too were on the Magic the last week in May last year.....the weather was absolutely beautiful. Smooth seas, clear skies, and warm (not too hot) water.

We sailed Nov 2003 and the weather was great. It was in the 80's everyday and CC was absolutely perfect. The water was pretty warm too. It was the 4 days before Thanksgiving!!!!! :sunny: Only 8 more days till my 7 day Western :jumping1: Enjoy!! :flower:

We have sailed twice in October and early Nov and have another booked for Mid October this year!! :jumping1: Weather was always perfect!! Not Hot and not too cool. Just right! :sunny:

Prices are really good too!! I could never afford Summer and don't think I would want to go when it is that Hot and can be rainy too. :scratchin

I did just get back from an RCL cruise this past January and I can tell you I won't do that again EVER!!!!!! :crazy2: :scared:  It was COLD at night and WINDY!! The sea was so rough at night that I could not believe it! 20-30 foot swells....Never again. The ports were nice and warm, but I never wanted to get back on the ship and head out to sea. :(

So I will stick to late Fall......... :teeth:
