We leave in a few weeks and I want to book a 7 day cruise for 2004/2005 while we're on board. What's the best time of year to cruise with Disney? I have a middle-schooler to schedule around.

We go in May, went in May 2 years ago, going next May and usually do Disney World in May too.....I just pull them out of school to go...next year the 14 year old will be in high school but we are taking her out anyway since I REFUSE to go on vacation when everyone else is and lines are long and things are packed and twice the money.

We always go in Oct. because the weather tends to be very nice & not too hot & the attendance isn't that high - especially in comparison to holidays or any 'school out' times. I used to go in mid-March and that was great also.:Pinkbounc
I also take the kids out of school with much notice to the teachers for assignments, etc. My mom was a school teacher & principal & she always took us out in Feb. to go away for 10 days-2 wks.

We went in January and the weather was very comfortable and the ship was relatively uncrowded - less kids than usual, apparently. The only worry os getting from the potentially snowy northeast.

The December 01, 2002 cruise was nice the Christmas decorations were awsome!! The weather was awsome (considering we flew out of Chicago). We were at WDW 3 days prior to our sailing (Thanksgiving weekend) and the lines were long at the parks. The two days after our sailing, back at WDW the lines were non-existant, but the weather was in the 50's. Nice for Chicago but we got spoiled from the Carribean the prior days (80's during the day and 60's and 70's at night). Feb 2000 was nice for all.....no lines at the parks, 70's during the day (which was very warm after a looonnngggg winter in northwest Indiana) and AWSOME Carribean weather.......Also it's much less expensive in off peak times. I takes the DD's out of school....the teachers at the kids school like the fact that families still vacation together.

Most definitely October and first 2 weeks of December:

1. Value season...lower rates
2 Generally cooler weather
3 ship less crowded than peak times
4 ship is decorated beautifully for holidays in December.

Have to agree w/ alexandrew. And since those are the value times for the cruise--keep in mind it's the same at WDW. No lines and less crowded always makes for a more enjoyable time!

Although October is a great time price wise, the weather can be a little iffy. Remember, it's still hurricane season and the water can be rough and the temperatures a little bit cooler. May is fantastic, the crowds will still be less but the weather is much better(although the price is more than October). Try for the beginning to middle of May since towards the end, some schools are already out for the year. The week after the weekend after Thanksgiving is the best time for fewer crowds, but the weather is also iffy. Summer time and holidays are the worst for crowds (but the only choice for those who don't want to take their kids out of school). Bribe the kids by telling them that you'll take them out of school for vacation if they get good grades up until then;)

This will be our third December seven nighter and it is by far in my opinion the best time to cruise. The weather is cold and nasty back home and you get away from all the Christmas crazieness for one week! We have done April too but I much prefer December. The ship is so beautiful!

We have cruised twice in October. One was an Eastern mystery cruise due to a hurricane to the south but we ended up with 2 days at castaway cay , saw Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, and had great weather. We have a third booked for October 2004 and can't wait.
