looking for some need to know info bringing a person whose never stayed on property which would be the best moderate option?

My personal favorites are either Port Orleans French Quarter or Port Orleans Riverside. FQ is the smallest of the moderate resorts so if your looking for a resort that's not huge it's a perfect choice.

I second the advice to look on=line at photos and descriptions to help make your decision.

I love Coronado best! It is small (relatively)... It has a beautiful pool area. The dining area is open feeling and has a great layout. The other ones that I have stayed at and what I consider the reason they are not my favorite are Caribbean Beach-- way too huge! Port Orleans french quarter- didn't have a standout feature. Riverside- felt old and shares busses second in line. .... *Technicallyy Coronado is huge as it is a conference center as well, but that side doesn't seem to affect the size feeling. But to impress a first timer, I would wonder what appeals to them... If they are all about the luxury feel, the the pool at Caribbean might do it... For older Florida/South feel the two port Orleans would fit... If it is the true Disney feel, I would suggest a value hotel like all star movies and pay to stay in a fantasia room.... Art of animation would accomplish this too but I am not sure about price.

You're better off asking for everyone's favorite Moderate. They all have good and bad points, relatively speaking. We love Coronado Springs for fast, unshared bus service, numerous food and (adult) drink options (the most options of any Moderate) that also have long hours, the amazingly themed main pool, beautiful and varied grounds and architecture, and kind of a just-right size feeling. Not aggresively compact like Port Orleans French Quarter. Not "you're kidding, the front desk is a satellite building that isn't even inside the resort and our room's a 20-minute walk from food?" like Caribbean Beach Resort.

We have stayed at all of the Disney Moderate Resorts (several times a year). Our favorite is Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. This is a newly renovated resort, great in room amenities, and resort amenities. This is our favorite Moderate.

My answer might vary depending on who this person is--a young child? A teen? A parent of young kids who is enjoying a little "time away?" Someone with limited mobility? Etc.

But I have stayed in all the mods and my ranking, in order of favorite to least:
Coronado springs
Port Orleans Riverside
Caribbean Beach
Port Orleans French Quarter

Don't forget the Fort Wilderness cabins, which are my personal favorite.
The busses can be a pain in the butt, but the atmosphere is lovely.

I'll give you some of my thoughts.
POR is more compact.
CS is closer to parks, nice to be able to get food and pay at once which is verrrrry helpful with a family of kids that are old enough to get in line by themselves. Slightly bigger rooms I believe.
CB too big if you are in some buildings it's a hike and I don't care for checkin/airport being separate
All have nice themes, pool at CS isn't as fancy as the others.

Can't go wrong th any of them.

For my wants and needs French Quarter. YMMV. I love the theming, the boat to DS and most importantly the size. I don't want to have to take a bus to get to the front desk or food or have 3 or 4 stops on the bus before we even leave the resort to go to a park.

When we aren't staying there and we're heading to DS from a park we hop on a FQ bus so we can soak up some of the atmosphere on our way through to the boat to DS!

it really depends on what you find the most exotic and what your needs are. POR is our home because in L.A., the only bayou is the one in POTC in disneyland. staying at POR makes us feel like we're staying IN the ride.

As others have said, each of the resorts have their fans as each family/traveler has different needs. They are all beautifully themed. POFQ and CSR "tend" to be quieter and favored by solo travelers, couples, and families with older children...POR and CBR "tend" to be louder/livelier and favored by families with younger children; they also accomodate families of five.

POFQ - smallest resort, one bus stop (but sometimes shared buses with POR), boat to DSp, new kiddie splash pad, for-pay recreation, almost always excluded from discounts

CSR - conference resort with "deluxe-lite" amenities (fitness center, spa, lounge, upgraded mattresses), option of Business Class rooms and Junior Suites (accomodate six), best pool area (largest hot tub, longest mod slide, QS/drink refills on deck), most central location with better than average bus service

POR - one of the better food courts, boat to DSp, Yeehaw Bob entertainment, paid recreation/carriage rides, sometimes shares buses with POFQ, option of Royal Rooms, tends to be highest priced mod

CBR - largest resort with seven bus stops, inconvenient front desk location, most quiet pools, well themed main pool with kiddie splash pad, option of Pirate Rooms, largest rooms with upgraded mattresses

My sister has been to every resort and her favorite is POR/FQ with kids. If you like taking breaks, the boat to Disney Springs is a terrific option. With adults, the fave is Coronado Springs. In the same general realm of amenities and budget with some give/take, AoA suites would be a close comparison (newer, food court, pools, space, queen beds). GL!

It depends. For people who have mobility challenges I would recommend POFQ. It is by far the most compact of the moderates. They have recently redone the pool area to make it more enticing for little kids too. For families I think it is a toss up between POR and CSR. I like the theming of POR over that of CSR, but both resorts are really nice. Both have great food courts. CSR does have a longer pool slide and a larger hot tub. I also like that CSR has the doors in the rooms that separate the sink area from the beds, instead of a curtain.

I am not a fan of CBR. For me it is too big and with 7 stops has too many bus stops. I also am not a fan of the food court. But it does have a great pool area for the kids.

Completely depends on the party including how many, ages of children, desire for pool options, desire for dining options, resort time or just a bed .....
