I am in the planning stages for our 2009 trip! Was wondering which moderate resort would be the best for a family! My daughters will be 2 and 9 at the time of our travel. Are they all equal or is there one you think would be more fun for a family with young children? I have been thinking about the POR? All opinios are welcome. I really want to make sure I choose a great resort.:goodvibes

We picked CBR for our family of 6. The rooms are bigger, decorated nicely, you can watch Illuminations from the resort, the landscapping is beautiful and it has the tropical feel with white sandy beaches

Personally I love the CBR. It's beautiful and has lots of animals running around. It's worth it there to pay for a preferred room as the resort is really quite large. The preferred room will get you closer to the food court, bus stop, and main pool.

Good Luck and Happy Planning.

We have stayed at both the CBR and CSR. While they are similar, I liked the CSR much better. For us, it seemed the bus waits were a bit shorter, and the pool is very nice, as is the playground and trails around the resort. My kids really enjoyed the Dig Site area and pool. Also the Pepper Market is a great dining option. after you are seated, there are several different places you go to get a variety of food. Sort of like a buffet, only the food is made to order (most places). The Old Port Royale Food Court was good also, but seemed a bit more crowded, with less selection.

We have stayed at the CBR 3 times. 1x without kids, and 2x with dd. We love it. It has a great atmosphere, very relaxing. They are redoing the main pool so it should be really cool. I saw a pic some where on this board and it will be a pirate ship.

Any, it is spread out which some don't like, but I actually like that. It does not seem crowded. Seems very private. There is the beach which is nice to take an afternoon break from the parks and go relax at. Our DD loved building sand castles and they have hammocks to relax in.

They also have bikes and boats to rent.

If you don't mind the extra $$ get the preferred location. It is a quick 1-2 minute walk to main pool and food court and you can see the Epcot fireworks from the beach in Martinique.

We actually just bought into the DVC and although we are psyched, we are bummed that it means less stays at the CBR! You'll love it!

CSR! Great pool/slide, no shared transportation and awesome food choices. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We stayed at POFQ with our 2 year old last April. It was perfect because the resort was so compact.

We could very easily return to our room from any point at the resort, pool, food court, lobby, buses, for whatever reason. (there's always something more needed with little ones!)

I liked the fact that we could sit at a table in the courtyard outside the lobby/foodcourt and let our daughter run around. It was perfectly safe. We would not have done that at POR. At POR everything seems to be centered right at the marina. I would constantly be worrying about my daughter and the water at POR, and also the traffic from the surreys go right past that main hub.

The pool area and playgrounds were also great at FQ for younger children. Your oldest, maybe both will be able to use the slide at FQ.

Given a choice, with young children or less mobile folks I would always pick FQ. Or pay for a preferred location someplace.

JMO, ofcourse...............

I think they are all basically the same with some slight differences which I'll mention. They just have different theming.

The size of the rooms.....most are the exact same square footage. Does CBR have some rooms that are bigger? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.

They are VERY spread out with the exception of PO-FQ.

Because they are spread out, there are many bus stops. Even PO-FQ shares a lot with PO-Riverside, so they get lots of stops.

All of them have food courts except CS which has a different version, much to the love or disdain of some Dis'ers. :)

Some feel CS has a "conventioneer" feel, others don't see it at all.

I would definately give the edge to CS for best pool, although I've never been there. I've only seen PO-FQ and PO-Riverside for moderates. And we loved Riverside. Really loved it, but the pictures I've seen of CS look so inviting. Maybe I would change my mind if I stayed there, I don't know.

I wonder too if because CS is a convention resort, if maybe you get lower crowds at the pool.

We are a family of 5 so we only get Riverside as an option. And we do LOVE this resort, don't get me wrong. But if I were able to stay in any of them I think I would like to try CS. I think the bus situation is slightly better and maybe the pool too. I don't think the convention thing would bother me at all but the way they have their counter service set up might.

When we first stayed at POR, we were a family of 4 so I had my pick. I picked it because I loved the theming and still do. I think a lot of people pick the resort for the theming/overall feel of the resort (as far as picking within a certain category).

Oh, yes and wanted to add that PO-FQ would be great too if you didn't want a spread out resort. I tell ya, all that walking after a day at the parks is a killer.

Have fun deciding. :)

The only moderate we've stayed at was PO-FQ, and we LOVED it! My DD was 6 & DS was 4 at the time.

They absolutely loved the pool area. I would have never imagined going to WDW & spending 2 days at the resort (rather than the parks) but that's what the kiddos wanted to do! They also have a shallow kiddie pool which was never crowded while we were there (late June 2007.) It was so nice to be able to hang out at the pool while doing laundry, because it was so close. :laundy:

We are staying at ASMo this summer to save money, but my DD7 has already mentioned how much she'll miss the pool & dragon slide at PO-FQ. :sad1: Whatever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

Coronado Springs would be my choice because of the pool and the transportation. I just love it there!

CSR is great for the family. The Dig Site (the main pool) is great activities for the kids with the life guards. 22 person hot tub is great when you don't feel like rubbing elbows to strangers. The quiet pools are nice if you want a quiet place. The restaurants and food courts are great.
