Ok, we're looking to book for next september with disneys free dining plan.

Which moderate is best for us taking into account that we will be in the quick service dining plan?

CBR is $600 or so more expensive for the 2 weeks so that obviously would need taking into consideration.

Sorry i know these types of thread are done to death i'm just struggling to decide

I really did like CSR because of the diversity of the guests. It was not just families going to the parks. There were business people in suits and casual attire. Not the usual for a Disney resort.

The bus service was great and the pool is huge. There is lovely outside bar with love seats and umbrellas. It is just different in a good way from the heavy disney decor of most resorts.

Are you sure that free dining is the quick service plan and not the regular dining plan with 1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack per day? Or am I confused about free dining?

For 2010 it's a free Quick service dining plan with the mod resorts so its 2 Counter service and 2 snacks a day unless you pay extra

How do we know this already?

I don't know about that deal, but based on what you've said, I would book POFQ. I love it for adults because it's not overboard cheesy with the theming. It's very beautiful and the property is lushly landscaped. With the food plan you have, you can have beignets all the time on your snack credits! It does not have a table service restaurant of its own so your CS credits will be just fine and you wouldn't be wasting TS.

We've experienced the same thing at GF, CR, BC and Dolphin. Any of the convention resorts will have guests in suits etc if a convention is going on during your stay. The only way to avoid this is to stay at a resort that does not have convention facilities. We've stayed at all the moderates.

TCO ~ All the moderates are so different that it truly is a personal choice based on which theme appeals more.

CBR is totally tropical, feels like being on a tropical island. Large, spread out, good bus service. So, so food court. Recently refurbished in a Nemo theme and Pirate theme (at extra cost). Nice beaches.

PORS - has two themes within one resort. A Bayou and Old Southern Plantation theme. Also very spread out - bus service can be good or very crowded. On the river and has a boat to DTD. Some nice river views from some of the rooms (extra charge). Could be any water view, not just the river.

POFQ - is the smallest of the moderates, quaint, pretty squares and courtyards, fountains and the river. Also boat to DTD. Also, very pretty river views from some rooms (extra charge and could be any water view, not just the river)

CSR is another spread out resort, but another beautiful theme. Fountains, beach, Southwestern desert. Rooms are being completely refurbished with queen beds and flat screen TV's. The bus service tends to be the best of the mods and the bus stops at the parks are not a long hike.:thumbsup2

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

(p.s. Have read that the Quick Service free dining for moderates is available only in the UK so far.)

CSR. The casitas area is very romantic, especially at night with the lighting and the fountains. The hammocks are a great place to unwind together with a drink. The rooms are all being rehabbed and are gorgeous! Walking around the lake is beautiful and serene. If the marina is open, you can rent bikes and explore the grounds together.

If you are into the nightlife more, CSR has a dance club on property. CSR also has a big hot tub! ;)

For adults, I always recommend CSR. I think it has a more adult feel to it. And since you'll be on the QSDP, the Pepper Market is the best value for QS. You can even get a steak for dinner with a QS credit!

I also think CSR is quiet and romantic. There's a huge hot tub, and there's a spa there if you're interested in a massage, and it's the only mod with a fitness center.

The rooms at CSR are being refurbed and they're gorgeous! Definitely vote for CSR!

We just booked to go in about a month and chose Coronado Springs. We liked the redone rooms. They look so much more modern. Also, we figured there would be less kids running around since it's a convention resort. I've also heard the Pepper Market is good for the counter service credit of dining plans - a lot of food and a good value for those using the plan. We liked the tacos, burritos, and nachos we saw on the dining menus at this resort. Plus we figured they'd make a great margarita by the pool. :cool1:

i would go with either csr in the casitas section. It has a health club and salon, quick walk to the main building, peaceful walkways and fountains and sitting areas, or the mansions at riverside, they have nice sitting areas as well and a peaceful quiet pool and are not too far from the main buildings.

Are all the sections of CSR now rennovated?

Also are the buses good, we like to spend a lot of time at DTD?

Not yet finished with refurbishments - due to be finished by October.

I don't know of any resort with good bus service to DTD - it tends to be a longer wait from everywhere.

They are about halfway done with the rehab. If you want the specifics of which sections are done, etc., let me know and I will post.

As for the buses, my understanding (we don't use the buses, we rent a car) is that bus service to DTD from any resort is probably worse than bus service to the parks.

Cheers people, CSR is winning the race it would seem.

What section would people recommend I request to be close to a decent bus stop / food court

Here is what has been recommended in the past. When reading it, note that the bus stops are picked up in this order before going to the parks: Bus Stop 2, 3, 4 and then Bus Stop 1:

For conventioneers the Casitas 1 or 3 are often the best. These are close to the convention center; but quite a distance from pools and bus stops.

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

I love the Cabanas--nothing more romantic than laying in a hammock with your sweetie sipping margaritas (or just plain napping!).

Also love CBR, though, and those beaches can be secluded and beautiful:
