I know I'll get 5 different answers but what do you think is the best mod resort? I will be going DW and DD5. Will be flying so won't have our own car and would spend most of the time at MK. Nightlife is not a concern since we will have DD and not planning on going out or getting in house babysitting. Just looking for some opinions with supporting info. thanks

I've stayed at all the mods and my favorite is Coronada Springs. I like the decor of the rooms and having a queen size bed instead of a full. The main pool is great. To me the cons of CSR is the food court is pricey if you're not on a DDP and you can be very far from the food court. But all the mods (except for POFQ) are spread out and it could be a very long walk to the food court at any resort.

We had a wonderful stay at Coronado Springs in November 2009. Love the full beds and the pool is fantastic! Bus service was great too. My caveat is that we're used to public transport and we found it to be very reliable (and OH so much more pleasant than the DC Metro). We were in the Cabanas section and were a short walk from the pool and dining. DH enjoyed runs around the lake. We would stay again in March, but free dining wasn't available for our dates. So we're trying POFQ.

I've stayed at POR and CBR. Since you have a 5 yr old daughter I'd go with CBR. The kiddie pool area is great and they have it fenced in from the regular pool area so I had no worries of my kids escaping :)! They played in there for what seems like hours and never got bored. Good luck with the decision making!

I'd have to go with POFQ. With a 5 yo the slide is great for her and while you may not be looking for nightly entertainment, POFQ does have a jazz player Wed-Sun evenings. The bus service to MK is great from there. In the morning you'll get your own bus and in the evening there is a bus stop just for POFQ. There's also a boat to DTD which is very relaxing. POFQ is very close to Epcot, DHS and MK. So your ride to these parks won't be very long.

I second this! The kiddie pool is pirate themed, and has a huge boat that dumps water. There is also a water play ground, and several playgrounds on the beaches.

CSR is my choice of the mods. It's a gorgeous resort and the only mod with queen beds. The pool area is fantastic. It's very close to the MK-maybe 5 minutes.

It's the only mod I've stayed at, but I really enjoyed POFQ. The room I had might make me somewhat biased. It was a corner room, very close to the main entrance and the pool. I also enjoyed the smaller size of the resort. The food court was alright, but the only option.

We've stayed at CBR (pre-refirbs) and POR-Riverside. Both are great resorts, but I feel POR has a little more to offer with boat to DTD, Carriage rides, cane fishing, and really fun entertainment most evenings in River Roost. Bob Jackson puts on a really great show that is fun for all ages.
The food court is very good too. Love the make your own pasta.

I've stayed at Port Orleans, French Quarter as well as Riverside, both are great you can't go wrong at that resort. This resort is great if you like to walk around and explore, it used to be 2 separate resorts that were joined into one, so it is the largest moderate resort on site. Treat your family to a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort it is great!:thumbsup2

CSR is the only mod that we have stayed at, and we keep returning there because we always have great stays. The new rooms are gorgeous, and the queen beds are very comfortable. The pool and slide are among the best on Disney property. My kids (11 and 7 now, but we also stayed at CSR when they were 9 and 6) love the slide so much that it is hard to get them off the slide to go back to the parks in the evenings. There are games at the pool and there is a pool opening ceremony for the kids when the water is turned on at the pyramid. The bus service is great, with frequent uncrowded buses and short transit times to the parks.

It really depends on your family and individual tastes; however my choice would be CSR. I have stayed at all the Mods at least once and CSR is my favorite. I will rank them with my reasons after.

1. CSR: the refurb is awesome...queen beds! The Dig Site has one of the best pools/slides play areas on property, grounds are lush and not really in-your-face Disney. Pepper Market is decent.

2. POFQ & POR: I like both of these equally, with my preference being POFQ. The grounds have a romantic deep South feel to me. You are able to go to any of the POR pools when you stay at POFQ so these can be like one massive resort if you choose to. They also share bus service and there are boat rides to DD that are relaxing and fun. Food courts are both good.

3. CBR: We stayed at this one before they refurbed it, now it's just "meh" to us. We visited for lunch after the refurb one day to walk around & eat lunch to decide if we wanted to stay there (as two adults with no kids) and the food court was awful, the bus service to MK was long & cumbersome (too many stops within the resort) and my husband didn't like the theming. That said, my 2 yr old daughter would probably never want to leave the resort once she saw their pool now! It's looks like a pretty cool area for kids--with a pirate ship and gated off area. Some people swear by CBR it's just not our cup of tea.

I can also tell you that we rely completely on WDW transportation when we stay on-site and the bus service was by far the best at CSR.

You know your family best, and what you want out of your resort. I hope wherever you choose, you will have a magical time!

I'd go for POR or POFQ. They are both lovely resorts with the boat to DTD and good transportation. POFQ is smaller, so is easier to get around, but does not have a large varitey in the food court. POR is a little bigger, but is also easy to get around, and you can now book a preferred room putting you close to the food court and the main pool.

CBR is really pretty and has a great pool for little ones, but is huge and it can be a bit of a walk to get around unless you get the preferred section. The resort is very nice though! CSR is really big, and it can be a bit of a hike to get around the resort.

If you go by the pools, for a little one CBR has the best mod pool, and POFQ has a nicely themed pool. POR is a larger pool, and it can be tough to keep track of a child there.

We've stayed at CBR, POR, and CRS. We liked POR best, but CBR has bigger rooms and I think they have rooms themed to pirates and Nemo now. However you decide, I'm sure you will have a great trip.

First of all, let me say my favorite mod is Coronado Springs. Great pool area and overall a very quiet resort.

However, if you plan on spending most of you time at the Magic Kingdom, why not look into the Fort Wilderness Cabins? I would pick it for:

1. Boat to Magic Kingdom
2. Kitchen (only moderate with a kitchen!)
3. Fort Wilderness activities
4. Overall quietness

Happy Planning! :goodvibes
