Taking my daughters (9 and 4) in May 2016 and still want to do those thrill rides. What in your opinion are the best 5 rides for kids/adults? I was thinking

1. Pirates of the Caribbean
2. Haunted Mansion
3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
4. Jungle Cruise
5. Space Mountain

I'm not a big fan of the WDW version of Space Mountain (too jerky). And I have not yet been on SDMT so I can't rank that one.

My personal top 5 would be:

1. Splash Mountain
2. Big Thunder Mountain
3. Pirates
4. Haunted Mansion
5. Peter Pan's Flight

Mine are:

1. Space Mountain
2. Big Thunder Mountain (Best at Night)
3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
4. Haunted Mansion (Best at Night)
5. Pirates of the Caribbean

1. the Haunted Mansion
2. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (especially at night)
3. Jungle Cruise (only at night)
4. Splash Mountain
5. Pirates of the Caribbean

Space mtn
Btmrr
Hm
Potc
Jungle cruise as long as the guide is funny

Rode sdmt for first time and it's a nice kids ride but I'd rather ride wdw rr

Your 4 y.o may not be tall enough for Space Mountain, Big Thunder maybe.

My list would be six [6] rides, your list (replacing Space w/ Big Thunder) and include Splash Mountain (4 y.o. may be tall enough).

I like Splash because, like Jungle Cruise, it takes nearly 20 minutes. But unlike Jungle Cruise, there is a Thrill from the one big drop.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely hit all these rides if we can.

You are missing one essential from this list: Buzz Lightyear ride in Tomorrowland.

That one is excellent for kids and adults of all ages (just don't let them control the joystick for your own health)

No mention of Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin? 4 & 6 year olds will like Buzz way more than Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion. Both of those are dark and kind of scary for a young child. Plus the seating on SM means that the 4 year old will be in a seat all by himself. I'm not saying that you shouldn't try it - all kids are different and some as young as 3 love the big rides (my younger son rode BTMRR when he was 3 and loved it). But if I were a betting man, I'd bet that more 4 year olds like Buzz more than they like the MK roller coasters, except for SDMT and Goofy.

I haven't been on 7DMT yet and I love space mountain but it might be too much for your 4 year old.

Peter Pan
Splash
BTMRR
Buzz
Pirates

Was there in 2014 and didn't really like Buzz, liked Toy Story in HS much more. Probably because Buzz broke down and we were stuck there for 1/2 hour with a 1 year old...

My top five are:

1. Haunted Mansion
2. Pirates
3. BTMRR
4. Carousel of Progress
5. TTA

...honorable mention at 6. Tiki Birds, very sentimental meaning to me. My grandma was a huge Disney fan and always took me, and she loved it. She has now passed and I always do it at least once in memory of her.

The age differences make it a little tough.
For a 9 Year Old:
1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
2. Space Mountain
3. Splash Mountain
4. Big Thunder Mountain
5. Haunted Mansion

For a 4 Year Old, take out Space Mountain (in case of height) and sub in Buzz Lightyear Space Rangers. Possibly take out Haunted Mansion if they scare easily. Then I'd add in Enchanted Tales with Belle. Not technically a ride if your 4 yr old likes Belle, perfect attraction for her.

And don't forget - if either like Peter Pan or Anna & Elsa you'll be using 2 FP+ on those first. Unless you are a rope drop. Have fun!

I took my DD12 to WDW at age 5 (just turned) and again at 8 1/2 so similar to your girls ages for your trip. Her favorites have changed over the years:

Age 5:
Splash
Dumbo
PP
Buzz

Age 8:
Splash
BTMRR
HM
Buzz

7DMT wasn't there then but based on our most recent trip - I think it would have made the top 5 at either age. It's a very smooth coaster. I also agree with the PP who said BTMRR is better at night and so is Splash! DD didn't ride Space until our trip this year. She loved it and probably would have loved it at age 8 but I think it was down when we tried to ride it that trip. IMO, Space at WDW is too dark/scary/jerky for a 4yo to ride unless she is a very daring 4yo who loves coasters/thrills.
