Best Mickey Meal

It has come to my attention that I did not book one single character meal with Michey! That being said, my DD8 and I will be going to Disney for the first time in August and I was wondering...which is the best meal with Mickey (I know he appears at quite a few) and which meal should I swap out...

I know I am a total stranger asking other total strangers for advice, but based on your experiences, what would you suggest? THANKS SO MUCH!

Mon 8/21 PSB @ Epcot
Tue 8/22 Cinderella's Gala Feast @ Grand Floridian
Wed 8/23 Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic Pkg @ MGM
Thur 8/24 Hoop Dee Doo @ Fort Wilderness
Fri 8/25 Ohana @ Polynesian
Sat 8/26 LeCellier @ Epcot
Sun 8/27 Boma @ AKL
Mon 8/28 Coral Reef @ Epcot
Tue 8/29 CRT Lunch @ MK
Wed 8/30 CP Bfst @ MK

This may be our only trip to Disney (please don't yell at me :teeth: ) and I want to make sure we take the most away from the experience as we can. THANKS AGAIN!

Actually Mickey doesn't appear at too many character meals. The only ones I can think of is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Liberty Tree at MK and possibly Donald's at AK. I may be missing something. :mickeyjum I haven't done any of these but we are planning Chef Mickey's for our next trip.

We really like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, for dinner. I think your DD is a good age for that one, and you'll also get to see some of the other main players like Goofy and Minnie. The atmosphere there is really silly, too.

I would switch out Coral Reef for Garden Grill in The Land at Epcot. GG was really great for character interaction and the food was good. Of all on your list, I think Coral Reef is our least favorite.

I am not 100% positive, though. I would choose to drop either PSB or CRT, you are already doing 1900 Park Fare...I wouldn't switch that one, it is a favorite of ours. As mom2alix said, changing from Coral Reef could work, too. Doing that would require less disruption of plans since both are in FW at Epcot.

The main reason I suggested PSB or CRT was to swap a character meal for a character meal, rather than adding another character meal to your list. Even our kids sometimes like a break and enjoy a "regular" Disney restaurant experience.

Once again, I am not certain, but I do not believe Mickey appears at LTT.

Good Luck deciding and have a blast!

My DGD loved Chef Mickey's.

I don't know how your DD because she is older than my DGD was, but we took her to CRT, which was a wonderful experience. A few days later off to PSB. Not a great idea. She was now in Princess overload, I think. She loves the Princesses, but I think that we were in Overkill.

I'd drop one of the princess meals in favor of Chef Mickey's (if you drop CRT) or Garden Grill (if you drop PSB). On a possibly one time only trip I would be cautious not to overdo any one thing and miss out completely on something else. That is why I would not drop the Coral Reef, how often do you get to dine with an aquarium of that magnitude?

I'd suggested dropping one of the princess meals and go with Chef Mickey's. As for which princess meal, that's a tough one. Eating at the castle is such a treat - but the PSB meal is also very enjoyable too. We simply adore Chef Mickey's however!! We skipped it last year and did Ohana's instead and even though we liked the food - the character interaction was poor in comparison to CM's.

Good luck deciding!

I'd drop the PSB on your first day and head for Chef Mickey's. It's right down an 8 year-old's alley and high excitement with decent food for a first introduction to Mickey! She'll never forget it...plus, it is right smack dab on the monorail so when you are finished you can decide whether you want to hop on and debark right at the MK...or hop on, debark at the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center) and continue on to Epcot via another monorail.

Another reason...you are doing a princess thing the next day...if you thought you absolutely could not miss the PSB...I'd drop Coral Reef and replace it with the PSB...but I would definitely keep (and highly recommend) Chef Mickey's for an 8 year old DD's (and yours) first character meal in WDW!

Our kids especially liked Chip and Dale (as well as Goofy and Mickey) at this one...

Mickey does not appear at LTT. As for dropping a meal, you have 3 princess meals scheduled. I would drop one of those for Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Fare has Cinderella only, while the other two princess meals have multiple Princesses.

My vote for the nest Mickey Dining is at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. If you can only choose one then try your best to land a ressie there.

I've never been to O'Hana's, so I really can't judge. But in terms of making it easy...both Chef Mickey's and O'Hana's are on the monorail line, so just switch one for the other. We really like Chef Mickey's, got to meet Mickey and Minnie and Goofy and our favs, Chip and Dale.
We also had it at Breakfast, and while I'm not a breakfast person, my DH thought it was good.

I would switch breakfast at Crystal Palace for breakfast with Stitch at 'Ohana. I know you are already going to 'Ohana for dinner, but breakfast is different and they have Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, Chip and Dale and Mickey. My sons have a wonderful time there. Breakfast is served family style, so you can relax and not deal with a buffet. The kids get maracas and dance around the restaurant with the characters.

We were at MK and took the monorail to the Poly - it was easy. We ate a late breakfast and it was not crowded. The characters spent a lot of time with DS8 and DS6.

If you have a ressie at Crystal Palace my vote is to keep it. The food is great and I would eat there over most of the other character breakfasts.

On a character note, if your kids enjoy Pooh and pals, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think that is the only place in WDW where you are guaranteed to see Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Piglet in the same place. Crystal Palace has a parade-like event as well where the kids get involoved and follow the characters around the restaurant. This is another cute film moment.

If you are looking for a somewhat quieter time then O'hana may be better. If food variety and quantity is important then Crystal Palace is your place.
