Hey all cast members and future cast members! So I'm applying for the disney college program and my phone interview is tonight. I'm most interested in the BBB or Character Attendant or the Merchandise role MOST but I was told we could request locations nothing guaranteed of course. ^^

So my question is this, What are the best Merchandise locations?

What I'm looking for is High Guest Interaction but a place where the pace won't be like swamped 24-7 and the hours will be pretty good. If possible a role where I'll work inside more often.

If I don't get my choice that's okay too. Heh I work at Walmart as a cashier so I'm used to fast paced.

Most likely MK is going to be the fastest paced and have the most visitors such as the Emporium but it's going to be swamped almost all the time and the hours are terrible

I worked Backlands (soon to be Star Wars land) at hollywood on my CP and it was a decent pace but had a lot of outdoor locations. Tatooine Traders had the most guests (I was told it was almost the #1 top selling story at any Disney park) and was really fun. The hours were awesome (10-6 usually) during regular times and then during the holidays the latest I worked was 1-2am. Usually I worked 4-12 during Osborne Lights.

Otherwise you don't want any sort of hotel those get slow really quickly. Personally if I did another CP I'd request Mousegears at Epcot. It was generally busy during the day as the main store but it was big enough that you could breathe and at night it calmed down. I really enjoyed the night I worked there. From what I know Mousegears is the sole store so you're inside everytime. Epcot hours are about the same as Hollywood, perhaps a little longer.

I realize this doesn't help now that you've had your interview, but I hope it went well and you like what you get!

Have you ever worked at a resort for merch or mousegears?

I gotta throw in DTD Westside there. The hours aren't too bad. The latest you should work is 2 am and that's if you're closing on the weekend. It is generally not slow, but it is also not backbreaking busy until you get to christmas week.

Closing times would depend on the store that you're working at that night since there are 3. Quest had by far the earliest closing and DStreet/Cauldron had the latest ones

There is an outside pin cart that you'll work at when you're scheduled DStreet, but theres a rotation so you shouldn't out there all night. Honestly, i preferred the pin cart sometimes to being indoors. You see a lot more stuff outside!

Yep, I stated in the post I worked there one night, the first day of food and wine. I worked All-Star Movies as well. Movies was boring as heck, Mousegears was fun.

I work at magic kingdom now, I love it but I'm over the craziness, I think I would love to work at a resort for that laid back atmosphere, but I'm going to put down mouse gears too . Hopefully it works out haha

I'm pretty sure if I were do to another CP I'd make sure and request NOT to have MK. My friends had MK and it just sounds so tiring and I couldn't do it.

I think the higher up resorts the more boring it gets because the values there are a lot of kids and more rooms and visitors (although it was still boring at Movies). Pop Century is a good one and the moderates are generally pretty busy.

Mousegears was really nice, since I worked the first night of Food and Wine it was pretty busy but not anymore than my job at Tatooine Traders.

I worked at MK for my CP and I had a love hate relationship. I loved the people I worked with and the managers. But I hated the hours and just all the craziness. I know people who work at the resorts usually love it for it's not as crazy but you still get the guest interactions.

I know DAK Merch is fun. I had a friend work there and she loved the hours and the people.
