Best Meal for 1?

I will have some alone time on November 10th, from around 1pm to 7pm. I have never really eaten at WDW other than CS. I would love to try some TS meals. Looking for best place to eat under say $35 for total meal in all of WDW for a single adult. I don't really drink either. Thinking of Sci-Fi, but would love Le Cellier or other places also. So if you guys can suggest say top 5 and then I try and search from there, it would be most helpful! Thanks!!

Sci Fi is more about atmosphere than food to be honest. I would recommend going to the countries in epcot to eat....my recommendations are Via Napoli or Tutto Italia. I like Teppan Edo, but if you have hibachi in your hometown, i'd skip this one. Le Cellier is a popular one too (although i wasnt as impressed with it) a lot of others seem to cherish this place. Lunch would be cheaper than dinner thou.

All the places I really like will probably run you more than that and are not in parks.

I like Via Napoli, if you don't buy any alcohol it will probably meet your price range. I also like eating at the bar at the Tune In Lounge (50s Prime Time). I also like the San Angel Inn. But a lot of people don't.

Le Cellier's okay, I'm not big on the hype and the tables are really close together. I'll eat there but I wont' go out of my way to get the reservation.

I think if depends if you want a Disney atmosphere or somewhere with a specific kind of food. I'd probably pick somewhere in Epcot if I could only choose one restaurant, although I'm not sure which one. Probably Rose & Crown or Via Napoli. I haven't been to either yet, but they sound good.

I have been to WDW solo twice. My favorite table service meals there are:

EPCOT - Beirgarten - you will have a hoot! Everyone is seated with everyone else, it's all about table sharing and the buffet is excellent!

Rose & Crown - sit at the bar and eat and you will be talking to many people without fail.

DHS - Brown Derby - it's excellent and don't forget the grapefruit cake!

I will tell you not to discount the resort hotel's restaurants. I love to go to Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian, The skillet for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe in Wilderness Lodge, Yachtsman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club and the California Grill at the Contemporary.

Less than $35 is pretty easy for lunch, but not so much for dinner. That's one reason I usually go for TS at lunchtime. At Coral Reef, you probably can get a tank-side table as a solo (I'm always lucky enough to get one). I love the GF Cafe, but it might be kind of "fru-fru" for you.

Little background. I'm a 24 year old male. Enjoy pretty much anything. But love meat and potatoes of any kind. I will be staying a GF, but I have a car and of course can drive anywhere. Just want to place to be on Disney property.

Now with that info, can everybody please do a top 5? Also, what I spend say 60 total on lunch AND dinner. Possible?

Just pointing out that November 10th is still Food and Wine Festival. Would you consider eating your way around the World Showcase? You could do that for under $60. Each sampling is between $3 and $6 or so.

On my "alone" night I ate at the Flying Fish on Boardwalk. I loved it. they had a bar area that overlooked the kitchen, and the waiters were great. I never felt awkward, although I'm usually comfortable in my own company

Here's a vote for the Biergarten in Germany at Epcot. You sit at tables with other people and get to listen to a fun, traditional band. The food is served buffet-style, and there are plenty of "meat and potato" types of options. Plus, being a 24-year-old, you probably would enjoy sampling the many varities of beer that are available!

I would agree with the poster who said Flying Fish may not be a bad choice. Granted, it certainly skews a tad expensive.

ESPN Club certainly doesn't have gourmet food, but I do think that it provides a solid "bar" style experience with the added "stimulus" of watching sports...something to do/watch while you're alone. If I were down there alone (me being a 30-year old guy), ESPN Club would probably be a place I'd check out.

In the Grand Floridian area, I might stop by the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Good food, slightly more gourmet/upscale but not overbearingly so. The atmosphere lends itself a tad to be able to "people watch" seeing as how it borders the resort's upper level main concourse. It's good for lunch or dinner.

My favorite solo meal in the under $30 range was Sanaa.
My other top picks for a meal under $30 would be Turf Club, Via Napoli, 50's PT Cafe, and Yak n Yeti.

It's perfectly possible to eat at two of those for around $60.

Say you to 50's PT for lunch. The friend chicken, which is a huge portion, and a milkshake costs $22, add in tax and tip and you've come up on $30.

Then you have Sanaa for dinner. All but one of the entrees are $18-21. Then you have dessert for $6 and a soda for $3. That's $30 plus tax and tip...about $40.

So you can have lunch and dinner, each with two courses for $70 including tax and tip.

Any of the places with bar seating you can just do a walk-up for. They don't reserve the bar space, but it may be full and you might have to wait your turn. I find it's really easy to get walk-ups for one though, at a table or at the bar.

I like to eat at the bar when I am alone. I have eaten at the bar at 50's PTC and Flying Fish. Rose and Crown also has a bar menu. As do also all resort TS restaurants. I think you could easily average under $60 per day for one person.

If you are thinking about eating at the bar, don't forget Downtown Disney. There are some excellent places for that (and I guess that's considered Disney Property). Last December we did that at House of Blues - and it was excellent. We made a dinner out of appetizers, though you can order anything off the menu, obviously. Also, Raglan Road & T-Rex are excellent, and have a great/interesting environment. And I've heard good things about Paradiso 37, though I've never been there.

And totally outside the box, but the AMC Theater at DTD now has "fork & screen" where you can eat a full meal AND watch a movie. One of these days I've got to try that!

Oh, and I personally like ESPN Club (they even have TVs in the bathroom!), but that's a personal preference kind of thing (the sports aspect, not the TVs in the bathrooms...though I guess that would be too).

Then again, I'm a woman nearly twice your age, so maybe I'm not so in tune with you. There are so many great possibilities. Enjoy!

If I had to pick restaurants for lunch I would pick....

Rose and Crown
50s Prime Time Cafe

But the food and Wine festival would win out over all of them, we try to make a point of going there every fall for it. When we couldn't get a trip in two years ago my husband sent me alone for two days. It was wonderful wandering around the world showcase stopping at different countries, trying the food and drinks. Stopping in places to eat it and people watching. It was wonderful!!!

Hey guys! Thanks for the suggestions so far. I plan on doing the F&W festival on my arrival day which is the 9th. Plan on being at Epcot all day. My main thing is I have NEVER done a TS at Disney. Usually it's been just a day there and head back home, or fast food places. So I really want to try it out!

The only thing that's sometimes a pain about being solo at the F&W festival is that there's no one to look for a nice shady spot to sit and eat while you get your food. More than once in the past, I've gotten my food at the F&W booth, then stood, juggling my food, while I try to find a spot to eat. Sometimes if I can't sit, there's a table to stand at, but sometimes I have to kind of stand around waiting for a place to open up. So going to the F&W festival during a non-busy time is very important.
