I'm looking for magnetic paper to print off our Mickey ears and such for our door. Any suggestions on which brand sticks better? I would hate for our stuff to keep falling off.

We use LD Premium Magnetic Photo Paper that we ordered through Amazon.

We just returned from a cruise and the magnets stayed put the whole 15 days, while our neighbors across the hall weren't so lucky. The age of the magnetic paper may have had something to do with it.

Print on cardstock. Laminate. Magnetic "tape" from walmart on the back. We made ours, our friends, and 55 FE magnets for cheaper than one pack of magnet paper locally.

I tried Avery and didn't like it so I switched to the Staples brand and they printed beautifully and were cheaper as well!

Good Luck!pirate:

We used the Staples brand as well and had no problems with the magnets falling off. With an ink jet printer the colors were bright and glossy.

I used a pack of magnet paper from Staples, and another pack from Office Depot. Both worked great, all my magnets stayed put just fine.

We were on the Dream. I'm curious... wonder if the older ships might have more "layers of paint" on the doors, which might affect reliability of some magnet papers? :confused3

Huh. Really? I was at Staples the other day and the two people I asked had a look on their face like they thought I had made magnetic paper up! Grrrr. That's so frustrating.
Oh well, I ordered Avery magnetic paper. We'll see how that goes.

I have always used the Avery on the Magic without any problems. I also used them on the Carnival Legend. The paper stuck just fine. DM is using Avery on the Wonder in June too. Actually scrapbooker79, she is on your cruise.

I swear by Avery brand magnet paper. It has always printed great, and never a problem with the magnets staying in place on the door. In fact, I have reused some magnets on multiple cruises and the magentic effect has stayed in tact.

I used the Avery brand bought at Wal mart and was so dissapointed when my magnets would not stay stuck. We were on the Wonder so I also thought too much paint on outer door, especially since the magnets would stay up on the inside or the door and on the bathroom door.

I was on a budget since I had 4 doors to do. I did not laminate, I just used card stock and I used rolls of magnet tape from Hobby Lobby. I just cut about 6 pieces for each 8X10 piece of paper. It worked fine. Some of it curled toward the middle and did not stick perfectly to the paper but they never fell off. I took scissors and more magnet tape but did not need it.

Were you in concierge?

Only the strongest magnets stay on concierge doors. :sad1: We upgraded at the port in January not knowing this and could only put up one of our many magnets!

I printed out the pictures on our pretty good printer on regular paper...actually may have been 24 pound paper..(not card stock)...then I went to Kinko's and ran them through the manual laminator...it's thicker than the ones they do for you. I then just cut them out and bought a roll of heavy duty magnetic tape (about 1/8" thick) that had adhesive on the outside..I put 2- 3" strips on each door magnet and it held great! They have traveled with us 2 cruises and look brand new and ready for our Sept. cruise...very easy and inexpensive.

I normally buy the glossy 8x10 photo paper and laminate those. Are those too light to put on the door? I don't recall ever having a problem getting them to stay put.

We used Avery magnetic paper. It worked great on the Dream. However on the Wonder they kept falling off the outside of the door. So we had to take them down. They did stick to the inside of the door and the doors of our connecting rooms. So it must have been too many layers of paint on the outside that was the problem.
