Especially looking for some local fresh seafood and have not been to HHI before tomorrow. Also, how far off the interstate is HHI Resort (exit 8 the best coming from the north?). Thanks a lot...

It's about 20 minutes off the interstate, maybe 30 if you're unlucky with traffic. I would suggest asking the resort for the best directions, there are a number of different roads and exits that can be used. If memory serves me well, it isn't the first ( maybe even not the second) exit thats marked up on I95 as you go South, but do check.

There is nothing that's very far from DVC as HH is a relatively small island. There are a number of topics that deal with this subject ( food) but I really liked the Old Oyster Factory, really good seafood. It's about a 10 minute drive. Because of it's location (looking over the intracoastal waterway) , it gives a really spectacular view at Sunset, looking up the creek.

Old Oyster factory is not open for lunch if my memory serves me. Depending on traffic, it could be more like 45 min to an hour but I'd assume 30 for Monday. I believe it's exit 8 (278), at least traveling north so I'd assume the same south as it's a straigh east west shot from that exit. For fresh Fish open at lunch, I'd say looking at Cafe Europa, Truffles or Cafe at Wexford come to mind but i'm sure there are many places I'm not thinking about as open at lunch.

Captain's Seafood is a good place for lunch, if they are open...never on Sunday.

We also found The Crazy Crab was good for lunch.

Darn, I forgot the name of the place. I think it's Captain's Seafood, but can't be sure. When you drove out of HHI resort, you make a right turn onto the main road. The place is on your right, after the mini golf.

That's the only place I found to have decent seafood and opened for lunch. Been there twice in a week, and we also bought mussells back to our room for dinner.

We will give it a try today....about a 3 1/2 drive from where we live....get the car cranked in the next hour or so. THanks again

The Old Oyster Factory, Truffles and Boathouse II are 3 of our favorite restaurants. We make sure to go every time we're in HH. I don't know if any of them are open for lunch. If they're not, definitely check them out for dinner.

Truffles is but it's within Sea Pines so a potential $5 extra charge. I don't think the Old Oyster factory is and the info I have says the BH II is open every day for lunch.

very nice suggestion..had a very good meal and it was quick. Traffic is very heavy on the island and it is hot...mid 90's and not much of a breeze.

The Old Oyster Factory is great, Truffles is fine if you are already in Sea Pines. I spent my first HH vacation in Sea Pines, and it was nice, but unless you are a "regular", you miss a lot.

My favorite place for lunch in HH, is at the Beach House. Ahhhh...
