We've read the reviews but they are all over the board. This is the board I trust. Where was your favorite lunch and why? We are a mom, dad, and two college-age disney fanatics. Thank you for your advice.

I'll give you both mine and my DH...we have very different likes and dislikes...here goes:

Mine: I love to have a late lunch at Chefs de France. I love French food AND wine. I try to get a table in the atrium room (all windows) and I usually have pate and chicken in pastry (not sure if they have this..it's been awhile). Order a bottle of wine and just sit and enjoy the food, atmosphere AND we people watch while eating. Love having two or three french waiters fawning over us! This is great on hot days....gives you a respite from the heat.

DH: He loves lunch on the patio at Rose & Crown. Fish and chips, BEEF anything, and guiness. In his opinion....what could be bad. This, too, allows for people watching and if the weather cooperates...this is wonderful! We especially like a sunny fall day in the sixties/seventies.

Whichever you choose...you're in Disney World...what can really be THAT bad. Do what we do sometimes and just eat and drink your way around the world. Grab a snack at every pavillion and watch the shows...that's fun, too!

I find, too, that opinions vary so much that it is hard to choose. Add different tastes and restaurants that have a tendency to be inconsistent in service and quality and you never know. I just go and make the best of what happens. I know that the food tends to be expensive for most, but hey, who cares...YOU ARE ON VACATION IN DISNEY WORLD!

I really believe that Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco has the best eats in the whole of Disney World. It is the one thing that I have to do everytime that I go to WDW. I took my friend there last time and the whole time (wandering around WS) she was worried that the food would be too weird (by the way there are no bugs or snakes on the menu). When we got there she fell in love with the place. We are going again in November. I asked her what she HAD to do, and she said eat in Morocco. There are also belly dancers there; feel free to join in.

It is counter service but a very nice spot. The Yakatori House in Japan, has skewered meats and a huge noodle bowl. There are gardens and ponds with Koi fish in them. Very relaxing. And they serve beer!

Restaurant Akershus -- there's something for everyone, it all tastes sooooo good, and you can eat as much as you want!

We too agree its either Chefs d'France or Rose & Crown. We also enjoy San Angel if it is an especially hot day. We love to have a late lunch there with a cool margarita and some soft tacos.

Enjoy!!!!!

I'd agree with Laura and say Restaurant Akershus is great as you can try what ever you want and also eat as much as you want.

Akershus used to be our favorite for lunch until we tried it 2 weeks ago. The hot food are no longer on the buffet. You can still have as much as you want, but you can only order one hot item at a time and the waitstaff brings it. They told us it would take twenty minutes! If I didn't like the first item then its 40 mins to get an entree you might like?? This was after they made us and a few other groups wait slightly over twenty minutes to seat us when there was probably not more then a dozen tables in use. But, by the time the wait was over, it had changed to dinner price:rolleyes: We actually just left and went to Morrocco.

Because you have college-aged DS/DDs, I wanted to mention that my college-aged DS loved Teppenyaki. Later in the week we had ressies at Biergarten and he tried to talk us into changing it to a second trip to Teppenyaki. He liked Biergarten, but Teppenyaki was best!

DH and I both love LeCellier in Canada. So many talk about the bread sticks and cheese soup, which we like also. But my favorite thing is the spring salad. I get it as a side salad not a meal. I love the spring greens, the salad dressing, cheese and onion on top. (I don't know if they are carmelized or how they are fixed).

We usually order the steak and split it.

My husband loves the Northern Lights, sort of a frozen cappucino.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Still as many favorites out there as restaurants so I guess we will have to try them all :) .

Thanks again - what a great way to get unbiased opinions from real people.

Our last lunch at Chef's de France was one of the best that we have ever had at WDW, and it was a good price too. The chicken crepe was to die for, and the lobster bisque was good. DH had the lunch special that included french onion soup, ham and cheese sandwich, and creme brulee. Even our 5yr old daughter enjoyed her burger while people watching in the WS. I think that the lunch menu is better than the dinner menu.
We used to really enjoy Akershus but with the latest changes to it I don't believe that we will be going back. I have also heard really good things about Teppanyaki, and that is on our list of places to eat in Deccember. Happy eating!

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned but what the heck I will give them another plug! Chefs de France, Rose and Crown and Mitsunoma Lounge in Japan when I am in the mood for window or outside seating for dining and want to just soak up the WS atmosphere. Le Cellier when I am in the mood for a cool, quiet atmosphere with a very good and reasonably priced lunch. The cheddar cheese soup and either a salad or sandwich with a nice glass of wine makes for a very tasty and relaxing lunch.

It's hard to go wrong at World Showcase- all the restaurants are great. My favorites are Chefs de France, San Angel in Mexico, and Biergarten in Germany. Great food and atmosphere.

We love a window seat at Nine Dragons and sharing a platter of Honey Sesame Chicken and the special fried rice. And on a colder day (we go in January) some hot chinese tea and wonton soup really hits the spot! YUMMY!

We've never had the fixed price lunch special, but I've seen other recommend ordering off the menu as the fixed price foods are precooked and may not taste as good.

there are so many great places to try:D my dd was 19 our 1st trip and is 23 now. her favorite is san angel inn and i think it is mine too, although there are still a few we haven't tried such as marrekesh and askershus. while we enjoyed Chef's de france and rose and crown and le cellier, they do not seem as unique as the atmosphere at san angel, we have not experienced another restaurant like it anywhere:D

For atmosphere, I would suggest San Angel in Mexico. The food is good & we love the "view". Also, if you like Italian, I would suggest Alfredo di Roma. We ate there on our last Disney vacation & we really enjoyed it.

 Have Fun!

Tangierine Cafe in Morocco!! This is hands down the best meal we have had at WDW. We make sure to always hit this place at least once. I know it's a counter service restuarant but there are so many things that make this place great.

First - most people don't know what Moroccan food is all about and aren't willing to take a chance on it, so the place is usually deserted!! It has a very nice outdoor sitting area in the courtyard that is great for relaxing, enjoying your meal, and people watching!!

Second, the food is excellent. The portions are huge ( we always get a shwarma platter) yet the price is extremely reasonable. We have also eaten at Marakesh and felt that the food was basically exactly the same (a bit more variety, but the same flavors and tastes) but the prices were ridiculous.

Third, it is up there with Akershus as a restaurant that we are not likely to encounter at home in Indiana. While we love Italian food and Mexican food, we never eat at those restaurants in Epcot because they are a dime a dozen at home. We want something unique when we are there.
