I was hoping to have lunch at CRT but it is not availabe during my trip. Where is the best place to have lunch at MK? I will be with my wife and 10 year old daughter. Characters are not necessary, but welcome! I already have a late breakfast scheduled at Chef Mickey's on a different day.

We usually have Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh etc...)for lunch and have enjoyed it every time.
This trip we are having lunch at the Plaza while at MK.....also very good!

The absolute best lunch in MK is at Liberty Tree Tavern. It is a great sit down meal, a wonderful menu. (Not that crazy all you can eat menu from dinner time when they do have characters).

If you plan a light breakfast and want a big lunch; or if you plan a late lunch in place of dinner (just snack later) go for the big buffet at Crystal palace.

However, if you have dinner plans and/or will be having a big breakfast then go for the cool and calm atmosphere and lighter lunch fare at the Plaza
Our family really loves both!

I really like Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. The food and service were good when we were there, and it was relaxing. I also liked the decor.

I have to agree with the Crystal Palace responses. We were there last week and we had Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet stop by at our table for autograph and pictures. There was something for everyone to eat at the buffet. It was great!

Best lunch at MK would have to be Liberty Tree Tavern. The food is delicious and the atmosphere wonderful and relaxing.

If characters aren't essential, try Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. I like the colonial atmosphere and I also think it's cute when the hostesses say: "Hear Ye, Hear Ye, we are now seating....."

LTT has a great lunch menu as does the Plaza Restaurant. For CS, we enjoy burgers with toppings from the fixings bar and french fries with cheese sauce from Pecos Bill's.

Crystal Palace was a very nice stop for lunch on our recent trip. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of selections at the buffet, as well as the good quality of the food.

For characters I would go with the Crystal Palace.

For CS I would go with Pecos Bills (the best burgers) or Columbia House (the best sandwiches and less crowded, go upstairs).

I would agree with the other posters that you can't beat the CP. CRT was very nice and elegant but the $$$ for lunch was way too expensive in my book. The CP always has a great food selection, even for lunch and worth every penny. You will really enjoy Chef Mickey's too !! Good luck!

Is it worth leaving the park to have lunch at one of the resorts?
That depends on how much time you have available to you. If you're on a week long trip (or more), then you probably have time to do whatever you want. If you're only going to be in the MK for one day, then no, it definitely wouldn't be worth it, especially since you've got the wonderful LTT right there!

If you did decide to go to one of the resorts for lunch, Kona Cafe at the Poly would be a good choice.
