What is the best long house (I think I am saying this right:confused3 ) at the Poly?

There are LOTS of different schools of thought on this, since every longhouse is near one convenience but far from another. You might want to check out tikiman's site, he has the pros and cons of each. My personal experiences have been with Rapa Nui and Rarotonga. I loved the locations of both. I was lucky enough to get a garden rather than parking lot view in both longhouses.

Rapa Nui has its own very convenient parking lot, and is the closest longhouse to the TTC. It was also very quiet and peaceful. It's not as close to the main pool or the Great Ceremonial House than other longhouses, but nothing is very far from anything else at the Poly anyway.

Rarotonga is centrally located, so it's pretty close to everything. What I liked about this longhouse is that it's right next to the Great Ceremonial House, as well as the laundry facilities. I had a ground-floor room with a patio, so I was able to leave my room right through the sliding door to go out to the pool.

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but there's no real best or worst longhouse.

It depends on what you are looking for as far as room location, view, noise level, etc.

Stayed at Rarotonga--it was great:thumbsup2 . It was about 10 steps from the GCH/monorail, which was great with small kids.:dance3:

The ABSOLUTE best longhouse at the Polynesian is....

the one in which your room is located!:goodvibes

We've stayed in Aotearoa, Tuvalu, Fiji, Tokelau, and Rapa Nui. Each had advantages. Our newest favorite is Rapa Nui due to its quiet location, convenient parking almost right outside the building (this "secret" parking lot was never full), double vanities in the bathroom, slightly larger room size, and proximity to the TTC. Now the views from Rapa Nui are not the best to be had at the Polynesian (MK View is the best), but they are not entirely bad either due to the extensive landscaping (we were on the first floor with parking lot view).

We used to make room requests and get our hopes up. Now we just let the tiki gods decide where to place us. (and we'll have to keep returning to the Polynesian until we get a room in Samoa with a view of the Volcano Pool!)

Hi! We are planning our 4th Poly trip in July! :rotfl: And, we have stayed in Hawaii(concierge) twice and Samoa the other time! We like the location of Samoa! We were Volcano poolside!:rotfl:

We've stayed in Fiji (marina view), Samoa (Volcano pool view) and Hawaii (Club Level, garden view) many times and we were pleased with all of the rooms we had. Just remember, you will be staying at the Polynesian which we think is the resort onsite, so any room would be a great spot in my opinion. But our overall best room....is the Hawaii Club Level either Lagoon View or Garden View, you just can't go wrong!

Happy planning!

Our first trip ever was last month and we were amazingly upgraded to the Hawaii building with a view of the Cinderella Castle. Like the pp's said, it's all in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think any building there would be bad. I felt so lucky to have been able to stay at the Poly altogether, so any room at that place would have been fine with me.

You will love the Poly. I wish we could stay there again when we go back, but we know we will never get what we had for what we paid...so we'll just have to try all the resorts out! LOL.

There really isn't a "best" longhouse. Just being at the Polynesian Resort is the best. Castle views, lagoon views, garden views (a lot of garden view rooms have a lagoon views as well), and concierge are your big decisions. Also, the Poly is not a huge, sprawling resort. Your only about 3 or 4 minutes to anywhere at the Poly. Once your at the Poly, slow down and enjoy the views, landscaping, and theme...

We have stayed in Rapa Nui, 3rd floor parking lot side. Best part of the view is the monorail. We never heard it, but the kids would love to sit on the balcony and watch it "wiz" by. We have requested the same building/view for our upcoming trip.

I always opt to stay at Rarotonga, simply for location. I love that it's close to the GCH, quiet, beautiful view...

Everyone's different...but, I can't think of a single longhouse that isn't beautiful.

Have a great trip!
