We will be visiting the last week of January and are big Star Wars Fans. We will not be going to Fantasmic(have seen it several times already) so we can get a spot staked out early to watch the Star Wars event. Have looked into the dessert party but don't think I want to spend the money. Where is the best location to watch the Star Wars Fireworks??
Thanks

Anywhere with a clear view of the Chinese theater as the show is a projection heavy show

Front & Center....LoL..But make sure you're at least ahead of the 2 speakers/projectors on either side.

It starts off a little slow, but sure gets A W E S O M E as it goes along. IMHO

Anywhere between the projection towers and the stage. Where you can see the Chinese Theater and the additional screens on either side best.

On Utube is the best place. I've been twice and both times, went early and got a good spot and then just before the show tall men came and stood right in front of me, causing me to kind of lean out a tad across the no cross line to even see one side. Last week we got right behind a bunch of wheel chairs thinking my poor height challenged self would be able to see and my son (who is taller than me) stood behind me. We were there a hour early. About 10 min. before the show some guys about 6 ft. tall came and wedged themselves in front of the wheelchair, not only causing me not to be able to see but the poor lady in the wheel chair (she could stand but only on one leg) to have to stand up and sort of peek between them. The first time I went I was settled in and a CM came and took me by the hand and said "honey you aren't going to be able to see from there" and lead me somewhere else. Me and the people around me all agreed to keep a small space empty in front of us in case some kids needed it and with the space, those of us who were height challenged could see. About 2 min. before the show, once again, some very tall men came along and stood in the space. In hindsight, we should have parked some adults there who would then move behind us and I should have told the wheel chair lady I was going to stand in front of her to keep anyone else from doing so and move behind her when the show started but both times it didn't occur to me/us that anyone would be that rude.

I find there is such a thing as too close so if your in the area between the stage and towers behind you I like being closer to the towers than the stage. There is some peripheral vision stuff on the sides and above you with this show and I find that is the sweet spot I like becasue your immersed in what goes on. I try to stay more to the left if the towers are to my back, but not too far left that the trees block the view of the building just left of the chinese theater. I find it's a good spot for the high fireworks that aren't on center and far enough from the trees to your right by brown derby to kind of see the side pyro going off from on top of those buildings.

handy trick which I'm going to regret posting is everyone tends to get a spot early and sit in that area. about 10 minutes prior to the show start castmembers ask everyone to stand up and move forward. Standing causes the place to suddenly be half empty and I just wait on the sidelines for that to happen and swoop in for the perfect spot pretty close to the last second. There is a walkway marked off just in front of the towers so swooping in is really easy to pull off.

Find a roped off area with a clear view of the theater. Stake a spot out on the rope so nobody can stand in front of you.
They make a walking pathway by roping off areas, and they keep the pathway moving pretty well. Usually, when the show starts, the pathways clear up, and the castmembers quickly clear loiterers. When we go back, if we don't do the dessert party, we'll find a spot facing the theater just behind a rope. If you have kids, they won't be obstructed by ppl in front of them so much if they are on a rope, and the next person in front of them is 10 feet away across the walking path. I have no idea how quickly those spots fill up, but I might send the mrs to stake out the spot while we go do TOT or something that she would never go for. Of course, Disney makes it Oh SO Easy to get a great spot by offering the dessert party!

I agree with what the PP's have said. We took the advice posted on the boards to be between the projection towers and the theater and a little to the left (as the fireworks go off to the right behind the theater). We, theoretically, had great spots, but when everyone stood, DS9 could barely see (I'm 5'2", so it was slightly better for me). Being right on the rope (or the tape that I saw) is great advice and something we might do next time. Or, I, personally, will probably shell out the money for the dessert party.

On the SW thread (link below) page one post 11 there are several pictures and details on the best spots and when to get them

I have not done the desert party since opening night of the fireworks when it was still outside where you watched. I had the worst spot I ever had to view it. Maybe it's better now but it really sucked that night.

Thanks everyone, this is all very helpful. For those of you that have done the dessert party, did you find it worth the money? I am struggling with paying so much especially since I have a DD who is 11(doesn't eat very much) that will cost the price of an adult. I wish Disney would offer more age range options for these events, character meals and buffets. Not necessarily starting the adult prices at age 10, but maybe age 14,15.

Factor in the possible hour you'll save by not having to stake a spot out when calculating.
Don't go to the dessert party after a big dinner to get your $ worth.
I love how Disney gets these prices calculated. Hopefully you'll have a great time whichever way you choose.

I agree with PP to not eat before you go. It's a late lunch type of day. I also recommend you get some premade stuff at the resort and leave it in the resort for after your day. Sandwiches, fruit, pastries, things like that which are available at the resort. to save some money, check out garden grocers if your not familiar. many save lots of money getting certain supplies that keep in the room well so they don't need to pay disney prices.

If you've never done any desert party and really interested, I'd say the star wars one is the one to do to try it out. I can't say if the rest are as good but I didn't feel cheated and enjoyed what was available to eat.

We went to the party in May when it was outside before they switched to the new show. It was expensive but we're going to do it again this time as well to see the new show. My kids loved getting the desserts and the Chewbacca cups and the view was great. If it was just me and DH I wouldn't have a problem camping out somewhere to be able to see but it's hard to do with little kids. So, for us, the time and sanity saved by the party is worth it.
