If you start feeling a bit queezy from the rocking, where is the best place to be to try to combat the affects?

On deck, in a cabin, standing up, lying down?

Once on a deep sea fishing trip, I started feeling a bit rough, drank a beer (and another...) and was fine the whole rest of the day! Anyone else find that alcohol helps?

Thanks

I think you're supposed to stand up and look at the horizon... not sure if drinking beer will help, well, on the other hand....LOL

I hate the taste of beer, let alone having it help me not be seasick... LOL "To each, they're own"

I've read in the past that the lower you go (in the boat decks); the better off you are...I dont know what is low on these ships thou...?

I had been out to sea a few times in my life and was perfectly fine, however this past summer~ we went deep sea fishing and omg did I get sick. Once I went down on all fours, I never moved, I just stayed in one spot til we got off... And I even took dramamine before hand...trying to prepare ahead of time...and it didn't work. This time around I am taking seasick prescriptions with us! and doing alot of praying!!

Good Luck, And keep your mind off of it, dont think about it, I think that has alot to do with it to! Your already worried, like I am, and we'll be the ones to be sick!

Take Care~

My nephew who worked on a cruise ship for many years suggests that you go out on deck and look out at the horizon, and just get some air blowing on you a bit.

He also says to stay out of your cabin, if possible. If you can't go on deck he suggested one of the big rooms on the ship for eg the atrium.

On our cruise in October we had @ 15 foot seas. My DS and DD were pretty sick. The doctor onboard told us to bring them out onto deck 4 midship. They fell asleep out there. The wonderful CM's onboard even gave us blankets and Ginger Ale for them.

we had 20+ seas on the last day at sea on my recent Magic cruise.

Best place is midship, not in your cabin.. and it's better to be where you can see the horizon. I hung out on the deck 4 midship loungers for a big part of the rocky day, and read and soozed. IT was relaxing and it was a MAJOR difference in how much you felt the rocking.

I suffer from motion/seasickness, and to think i was talked into our first cruise. anyway, I always feel better out side, with the fresh air and looking out ward , it is worse if you look down, you tend to notice things moving much more. Good Luck , I am going to try anything that will work!

I vote for lower and aft (Deck 5) with the verandah. Never fails to help me get over the queazies!
