We are 2 adults, DH and I, and 2 children, ages 8 and 4. We will be there 7 nights and have never stayed at CSR before (VERY excited!!!!). We will have our own car since we're driving down, so being close to bus stops is not important to us, however, we would like to be close to the food court and the pool. What would you CSR experts recommend? And do people still fax room preferences? I have done that in the past and had great results, but I thought I read where Disney didn't want us faxing room preferences anymore.

Thanks!

I recommend the cabana section. Starting at building 9b and working backwards. 9b, 9a, 8b and 8a. I still fax in my preferences.

We will miss you by about a week. Watch for my trip report around the 30th.

hunnypotmama, we will be at CSR the same time as you! We are there April 2-9!! I can't wait!

We have stayed at CSR four times (9/99, 2/01, 11/03, and 2/04). We have stayed in Bldgs 3, 5, 6B, and 7B. We loved 7B. It was very close to the pool area and a bus stop. The walk to the main bldg is really not far at all and provdes a great after meal stroll. 3 was also very convienent.

Cabana 9b is great. It's close to the Dig Site and the main building.

We stayed at CSR last Thanksgiving. I had requested Casitas 1 to be close to the main building/food court. Well, we arrived at midnight that night to check in, so we did not get our request and they put us in Ranchos 6B. I was disappointed because I had heard from many that the Ranchos area was a long walk to the main building/food court. The one benefit was that this was REALLY close to the main pool and a quiet pool. But we weren't planning to swim much (it was November) and we WERE planning to eat at the food court. WELL, as it turns out, this location was great! We did not find the walk to the Food court to be long at all. It seemed about the same length from our room at Port Orleans Riverside (Parterre House) to the food court at POR. If you kind of take a short cut through the Dig Site area then over the bridge, it is really a short walk. We were pleasantly surprised because I had expected a long hike!

So, the moral of the story is that no place is really far.

The one "problem" with CSR is that the main building/food court are on opposite ends of the resort from the theme pool. So there really is no room that is really close to both. If you look at a map of the resort, the Cabanas are in the area between the Food Court and the Main Pool. Building 9B is closest to the food court while Building 8A is closest to the Main Pool.

So glad to hear this maggiew.

This is where my family requested to be after viewing Deb wills site and Mario's as well. They just looked so authentic and well themed (as I would imgine)... As well as being close to the pool was important to my girls.

We requested 6b & 7b or 8a. Requested 8a for my DD(but figured they would opt to put us in Ranchos as the majority of people probably request 8b anyway.

Here's hoping we get ranchos! Thanks for the info.

Ranchos 7B!
1st floor, pool view!

Stayed there 2x and hope to be in that bld again when we return in May.

We usually only walk to the main bld for breakfast. If we'll eat lunch or dinner at the resort, we'll get off the bus at that stop and then walk back to the room after.

maggiew or tampafan:

I was also looking at 6B...are there any lagoon view rooms here? We have a waterview booked and I'm afraid poolview would be too noisy. We like the looks of the Ranchos, but I guess we will request Cabanas to get a lagoon view. We want to be close to the main pool.

I am not sure if there are lagoon view rooms in 6B. We had a standard view.

Here are some pictures of our room and building. Before we went on the trip, I was praying we wouldn't get Ranchos because I didn't like the looks of it - too dry and desert like. But upon arrival I found that it was beautiful. My girls loved to climb on the rocks and pretend they were mountain climbing.

Thanks Maggie for the great pics! Am I the only one hoping for Casitas? I thought they looked lovely and were close to the food area & bus stop. Anyone like the Casitas?

Emme,
I liked the looks of the Casitas best too. That is the area I requested, but we did not get assigned there. :( Although, as I said, the Ranchos were nice too, but different.
