We just decided to make a trip to DL we leave Aug. 1 we're staying about 3 days. We need a hotel within walking distance (close). Any ideas where to try?

I just looked at cheaptickets.com they have the days inn at 1111 harbor with private shuttle for around $67 a nite they also have deluxe cont. breakfast we are thinking of switching for the shuttle and breakfast alone. right now we are booked at HoJo's but it has no breakfast and the days inn is not that far to the north of HoJo's just past the 5 freeway so walk would not be much more either only don't have to walk as they have thier own shuttle!!

Private Shuttle?? I'd confirm that, I thought there were only 4 or so hotels in the area with that perk, and 3 of them share.

OP I'd check the Ent Rate at the HoJo, if you can't get that then try the CCI, it's more $$$ but they are walking distance, have a free breakfast and a free shuttle......we usually walk it in the morning but take the shuttle back for breaks and at night.

there is also the fairfield inn, just down from the hojo's and currently I believe 89.00 ? also closer then the hojo's to the park !

I called them Pixie and thats what I was told... and reviews are pretty good for this hotel we love HoJo's but with breakfast and a Free shuttle for less than what I'm getting HoJo's for it is a hard choice!!

It's actually about 1/2 mile farther than Hojo's, which when walking would seem TOO far, especially at night. You have to walk up and over the freeway. But the free, private shuttle would probably make it worth it.

Huh, that is pretty awesome......I'll have to check into that hotel myself. :) We have done a Days Inn but it was the one on Ball, not the one on Harbor. Very cool that you found that!!! :) I definitely wouldn't walk it, I won't walk farther than the HoJo, at night anyway. Not because I don't feel safe, but because my feet won't allow it! LOL We've walked from the Peacock in the morning, but at nite we took a taxi back to the room.

Just got back from the Candy Cane Inn with my oldest daughter for a 2 night stay. It was great. Free breakfast, good pool (for when we needed a break from the parks), and free shuttle (which is exclusive to the Candy Cane Inn). Plus really nice people and service as well. Our room was a premium room which just meant we got a free movie rental/nite, free pop corn and cookies, and a few other small- but appreciated- treats. Other rooms were around 139-169/nite. They also offer a AAA discount.

Candy Cane Inn is easy walking distance, about 2 blocks from the entrance to the park and right behind California Adventure (you can see Ca Screaming coaster from the Candy Cane parking lot). So it's an easy walk but the shuttle runs all day/nite for those times when you are fried from walking the parks.

The shuttle driver told me they have lots of openings this summer (and they have dropped prices a bit) as biz is slow at all the hotels. This past Friday- for instance- they had 30% of their rooms empty.

We had a great experience there and will be back. Good luck finding a place and have a great time. We go to DLR at least once/month and we were JUST there less than a week ago but I am already longing for another visit :)

We just stayed at the CCI last week and had a great experience too! I highly recommend it. With the AAA discount we got our room with a king bed for $112/night. The cheapest room with AAA discount was $102/night. This was on 7/5 and 7/6 and I noticed that those 2 dates had cheaper rates than later in the week (or month) so I'm not sure if you can find that rate right now but I wonder if they would be willing to negotiate a little on the price if you called and talked to them since they have so many empty rooms. I think we got a cheaper rate because it was right after Fourth of July weekend and most people were going home then. Good luck making a decision and have a great trip!
