I am looking to sail the 7 night eastern caribbean next September and would like to know what the best rooms are with the larger verandahs?

Many thanks!:goodvibes

We were in 5150 on the Dream and the balcony was almost the same size as the room ;)

We loved how close it was to the kids club and elevators, just hop on and you're right up at Cabanas!

Deep or Wide?

We have 10658 and it looks like one of the wider verandahs. (corner of the ship)

I believe they are on deck 5, category 4e. We booked 5656 ourselves for dec 2013. Also, there is YouTube of Disney Dream 5656 and it shows the " oversized verandah". :wizard:

My parents just had stateroom 8188 on the Dream and it had a HUGE verandah off the very back of the ship. It was seriously triple the size of our verandah.

With a little research you can find them all. Though I do know that some are held until later because they are accesible rooms. On that note some may have huge verandas but they only have one bathroom vs the split bath and some reviews claim that the lower ones can smell fumes from the engine. But since I've never been I don't know.

we were in room 10662 on the Fantasy and the balcony was a good size. we had 2 lounge chairs plus a table and 2 chairs. loved it and probably only want aft room again.

now remember...there is a small trade-off to these large Aft balconies. Soot comes in (at night) and can get on the clothes you may have out there....they clean it up almost immediately so it was not a big deal for us....just be aware not to leave stuff out there overnight...

This never happened on our Aft balcony, and I spent a lot of time out there.

We had 10160 on the Dream and loved it. We have 9172 in December on the Fantasy and can't wait.

DCL requests that you never leave anything out on your veranda (towels, clothes, etc.).

We have 8188 booked. I have seen one photo but would love to see more if you have any. Pretty please! :)

9674 was pretty huge, as was our neighbors next to us (direct center of ship, deck 9).

We have 8188 on 2 of our next 3 cruises. Love those aft verandas.

We have 9164 next year. For this October we have 8682 and are friends are next door so we will have 1/2 ship sized veranda when we open it up.

Can't wait.

How exciting!!

It's a shame that the stateroom reports don't include pictures!

DH ssanders79 just posted pics on the last page of the "NO to aft verandahs" thread of our 9674. I'm not sure how to post the link using the iPhone DIS app (we're in the car headed to Typhoon Lagoon).

The large aft verandahs are Cat 5E. There are also different long large verandahs (referred to as oversized" on deck 5, cat 4E. In our opinion, those do not at all appeal to us. I'm not into having everyone from decks 6-10 look down onto it. We were in Cat 5A on the Dream (9648 ) & I didn't like looking down onto them, either. We are definitely in the Cat 5E aft verandah camp.

You will get people who like both emphatically. That's just our opinion. Loved loved loved our room & can't wait to have 8188 on our next 2 cruises!!!!

We have 8188 too on the Fantasy Oct. 2013! Pls share your photo's too!

From the deck plan, it looks to me that the trade off for having the 4e on deck 5 is that your cabin in smaller -- these look to me to be the same size as the category 5 staterooms.

On our recent sailings, I looked down from our balcony at these balconies and thought they looked amazing. The more I thought about it, though, the less I think I would want one of those if they came at category 4 prices -- the reduced room size plus the fact that a quarter of the ship can see into your balcony would make it a no go for me.

We stayed in 8188 on the Dream back in March. The verandah is HUGE as others have mentioned.

It was our first cruise, but we loved being center aft and having that huge verandah.

We stayed in rm 6192 on the Fantasy in May and had a large balcony which is where the flag pole comes up and at times had the flag on the balcony while in port. You will feel and hear the thrusters (not the engines) when you pull into and out of port, it is extremely unlikely that you will sleep through this. We did not have any soot on the balcony, however that depends on the wind. We did find a ping pong ball on our balcony. The balcony was probably 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the stateroom.
