I'm looking to try some new places to dine and was wondering if anyone has a place off the beaten path that serves great food, or has a great atmosphere, that not everyone know about or that disney doesn't hype as much as say "The California Grill." One catch we are staying on property and won't be leaving, so I'd like it to be somewhere Disney Transportation can take us. Thank You :stir:

The Plaza Resturant can be a great place to escape MK crowds for a nice meal. GF Cafe is also nice & quiet. And I do not think the Artist point get half the credit it deserves fab food, great service, relaxing atmosphere & beauitful place.

Check out the offerings at the Swan and the Dolphin. For really nice upscale dining, Blue Zoo gets consistenty good reviews. Picabu is my favorite place for fast food--and it's served on real plates. Kimono's offers great sushi and some very lively karaoke if you time it right.

Todd English bluezoo at The Dolphin. It's a lot more upscale than your typical Disney restaurant and definitely more pricey but it remains one of the best meals I've ever had on Disney property. I would love to go there again sometime :)

Um, if we tell you then the places won't be "secret" any longer, now will they? ;)

Turf Club at Saratoga Springs.

i love to have a really bad cup of coffee on the chairs outside the fountanview bakery
also love the columbia harbor house (eat upstairs)

The Sand Trap restaurant at the Eagle Pines/Osprey Ridge golf course.

If you like bagels or muffins, there is a quiet place right next to the Sci-Fi diner. I cannot remember the name but it is like a bookstore/coffeeshop place. They have gigantic muffins for $1.50 and really big bagels for $1.00. That includes butter/cream cheese. The have coffee and various beverages. There are even seats near the window to sit.

Trail's End at Ft Wilderness is probably one of the best deals out there (~$17-18 for buffet). You probably won't find anything more off the beaten path. I wouldn't call the food "great" but it is pretty darn good for what they offer (mashed potatoes, ribs, mac n cheese, etc.). Ft. Wilderness has a good laid back atmoshphere to complement the organized chaos of the parks and other resorts. I believe they share a kitchen with the hoop de doo revue. If you don't go in there expecting gourmet, then it is usually a fun experience.

Here is DH's best kept secret -- the walk up food window at Bongo's. Good and cheap. A rare Disney combination.

I couldn't agree more. This place is a hidden treasure with a very yummy pitcher of sangria. We will be back again this year!:yay:

Ooh! I have to agree about the Sangria. Best I have had anywhere. The food at spoodles is really good too. Really good fettucini alfredo.:)

Trail's End is also a very good breakfast buffet. We love Kona, and are doing it for breakfast and dinner this trip. One place I have read on prior post people say is a hidden treasure is Olivia's at OKW.

Have a wonderful trip!
