Thanks everyone!

Bottle opener!! Had to make a quick run to the gift shop for one of these upon arrival one year. Now, it remains in my ownerslocker. ;)

umbrellas

I opened this thread to post the exact same thing!!!

We thought umbrellas were so much better than those portable personal plastic saunas often referred to as ponchos.

BTW -- It didn't rain that much on our August trip, but when it did the umbrellas were great. We also used them a couple of times for some instant shade.

Okay - so NO idea why I typed August when we are going in September - must of really been tired earlier!!!!

The mister fans were a lifesaver. Yes, it's hot, but there wasn't much of a breeze anywhere and these really helped.

I looked EVERYWHERE for that bottle opener on our trip (returned yesterday). I have one, but wanted to get one for my b-i-l...couldn't find them anywhere!!!

I would say the most useful thing were our ponchos.

A second pair of park shoes. When it rains in the afternoon it feels icky to put wet shoes on the next morning. I alternate shoes so the wet pair has time to dry.

1. Umbrellas - The idea of covering myself in plastic when it is 100 degrees and wet.....
2. Fit & Fresh Liv Pure Water Filtration Bottle: saved us a ton of $$$ and worked great! :)

I agree on the ponchos and mister fans and extra shoes (this especially!). If anything, it makes your feet feel better when you alternate your shoes periodically.

Hand sanitizer and/or hand wipes

If you plan on doing laundry at the resort, go to Target and buy a packet of Tide for one load's worth (in the aisle where the mini travel stuff is) for 99 cents. Saves you a few bucks from buying it at the resorts.

Sunscreen (also love the mini bottles you can get at Target! Great for carrying around the park!)

We got ours at BVG (Bay View Gifts) at the CR.

We prefer some type of rubber shoe such as Birkis (all-rubber Birkenstock sandal with or w/o back strap), or a Teva-type sandal. My DH gets blisters in rubber sandals when his feet are wet, so he wears socks with the Birki sandals. It looks funny, but he doesn't get any blisters and only his socks end-up wet, and we can do the parks all day in the rain:thumbsup2.

We wear GoreTex raincoats so that the bottom back/front of us doesn't get as wet as when you only use just an umbrella (it can get windy, especially underneath Spaceship Earth:eek:). We usually go every Aug. (Sep. is really wet, too) and have learned to come prepared for the downpours; the parks are practically empty during heavy rains;).

A light sweater. Yes, a sweater! I practically froze in all of the restaurants. They turn the AC way too cold.

I brought a box of the gallon zip lock bags, and they came in so handy! It kept stuff dry in the rain, they were great for packing snacks in them, and they made finding things in my bag easier. I also brought one of the XXL ziplock bags as a laundry bag. Otherwise, the stuff people already mentioned.

I'm also going to say ponchos. I don't mean the cheap $1 kind..ours was like $8 at Wal Mart but I they were much more sturdy and I didn't feel like I was baking in an oven.

Here is what I am glad I brought for my June trip:

Purex washer/dryer sheets - they take up NO room in luggage!

Travel bottle of malibu rum, and wine in checked luggage!

Foldable landry hamper

I will never go again without taking this: http://www.rei.com/product/691097

A REAL lifesaver in hot weather!

Ponchos and small battery operated fans. The mister fans can be such a nuisance. About the plastic bags, stores were more than happy when it rained to give me a bag to cover my camera with and put my backpack in.

Did the Kool Tie stain your clothes or get your collar wet? Any trouble with rash? We had these years ago at the factory I worked at, and while they were great for cooling, they stained and gave rashes :sad1: I've avoided them since, but if that doesn't happen, I'll give them another try!

Ponchos----already mentioned
bottle opener--that's there too....
Ohhh ohhohhhhohhhhhh...

CASH :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Probably gold bond powder.....:thumbsup2
