Hoping you budget mavens can help me!
My DH was moved to a work plan leaving me alone on AT&T. I already have an iPhone as would like to keep my number. Can you recommend an affordable plan for a single iPhone user with an existing phone? I won't have a penalty if I move.
TIA!

I had to buy the phone not sure you can bring your phone over but you can keep number

I just signed DS up to virgin mobile with a iphone $30 per month on auto for unlimited data and text with 350 min.
$50 per month for unmilited minutes
DH and I areon Att still though.............

You can bring your own AT&T or T-mobile Iphone to Straight talk, you just have to buy their sim card for $15, its $45 for unlimited talk/text/data.

All these prepaid services have horrible data speed (most of them are using sprint's leftover network). I tried VM once and had to change back to post-paid plan because of the slooowing speed.

I looked into that for dd a few mths ago and they were no longer selling the SIM cards. Had to buy a new iPhone thru them. Has that changed?

This is why I still have att but for my DS it is good enough IMO he mostly uses data via ipad but wifi at home anyways

Virgin Mobile is a good cheap-ish way to have an iPhone. However, if you do not have decent Sprint service in your area it's not worth it.

I have an iPhone on Sprint, an actual Sprint post-paid plan. I use WiFi. It's that bad around here.

You can check and see where towers are in your area. http://www.antennasearch.com/

You can also check and see which carriers have the best reception in your area. http://www.cellreception.com/coverage/

I've been with Straight Talk since last October, no problems.

I can only speak for straight talk - no complaints from me, works as well or better than any friends or families 'name brand' plans.

We just switched to TMobile. Best connection we've ever had with a cell phone. The other carriers we had (Sprint and USCellular) had horrible reception. We couldn't take calls in our home. If my dh had to do a business call, he would have to stand outside in the garage, or sometimes go down the street...lol.

I looked into all of the plans and TMobile was the cheapest for us, as long as you didn't have to get a new phone. We had to pay full price for our iphones (ugh) but the monthly service fees were about $80 cheaper for our family.

You will need to get your ATT iphone unlocked. Then you can use it with a T-mobile SIM or an ATT SIM. The ATT SIM cards are no longer sold by ST but you can get them on ebay.

I have been with ST since last summer without problems. I have the $45/mo plan.

We did unlock it but I thought that you have to purchase a ST sim or something. So confused. So what do I need to do next?

Eta: I just googled and it appears I am not confused. We were trying to do this right after Christmas, which is right about the time all this happened...

Wait, I am confused. Further down it says you don't need the sim if unlocked. So I guess I just call ST and they can hook it up? The ST site says to buy a ST AT&T sim. Unfortunately it's not available, only T Mobile.

Been with straight talk for about 6 months and it is great, so much better then t-mobile. Must depend on your area
