I need to get my son :
" invisalines" When I googled it there were so many brands any experience? Byte, smiledirect.. etc?

You need to see an orthodontist. Don't fall for the ads that say it's cheaper if you do it on your own. My DD17 got Invisalign, but then needed regular braces for a short time, to take care of one tooth that simply wouldn't respond to the invisalign. My DS15 wanted invisalign, but they weren't going to correct his specific problem, so he had to get regular braces. I would have had no idea that my kids needed the regular braces. Getting their teeth fixed properly has done worlds for their self-confidence. Even more so in a couple weeks, when DS15 gets his off.

My niece had regular braces, then invisaligns, and now is in regular braces again. Poor thing, she's 23 and probably feels like the nightmare will never end.

P.S. In my DD's case, the orthodontist didn't charge for the metal braces that she needed, after the invisaligns.

Don't do an online ortho. Bad, bad idea. Make 2 appointments with local orthodontists and get quotes for regular brackets and Invisalign. They do these consultations for free. Pick the one that makes you feel most comfortable.

Invisalign is expensive, and often not an option depending on what, specifically needs to be achieved. Don't DIY orthodontia. You will regret it.

My orthodontist took all the molds required and ordered the Invisalign. I've had both conventional brackets and the Invisalign over the past 20 years by the same doctor and the molds for Invis needed to be very precise, Don't go for the online system if it's his first attempt at realignment, it could come out wrong and you are out all that time and money, Think of it as doing your own hair dye job for the first time and it comes out wrong! Now you have to pay for a professional to fix your mistake.

I had great results with Invisalign. It took nine months to transform my stereotypically awful British teeth (I grew up in the UK) to nice straight American-style ones. Expensive, but bear in mind you can use HSA money towards it.

How old is your son? Do you think he's likely to follow instructions for Invisiline, even when it hurts?

Here's what I'm getting at: With regular metal braces, a kid can't help but comply with the orthodontist's plans. He might not wear the rubber bands, but he can't help but wear the metal braces. With Invisline, he has the ability to take them off when they hurt -- and traditional braces ache /hurt at a low level about 3 days a month. If he doesn't follow the instructions, the process won't work.

Some kids would follow the Ivisaline instructions to a "T". Others wouldn't.

Yes to getting a consultation with at least one ortho before you make any decision.

Well, kids can be taught and start discipline while they're young. In reality, Invisalign on kids is a challenge as it is removable.
But the thing is, kiddos can eat whatsoever they want without restrictions. Pain is bearable and subsides within days of use.

I had braces, 4 of my kids had braces, literally ate whatever we wanted, discomfort from tightening lasted a day at most. Only had to worry about tossed expanders and retainers, I can’t imagine how many invisiline trays they would’ve put in napkins and thrown out (and yes I know this is an old thread).

Go to a good orthodontist. (Or consult more than 1) Totally worth it.

My husband is a dentist and has seen some BAD orthodontic results lately. He says it's really hard when he gets an older teen into his office with braces already off and the bite not aligned right -- it's not just the front teeth that should be "straight." He gets the unenviable job of telling the parents --who just spent thousands -- and the child -- who just spent years in braces -- that the orthodontics aren't done or done right.

And to illustrate how hard it is to move teeth around even with the very best people involved, our OWN daughter spent more than a year in Invisalign, and then had to go into traditional braces for six months because a couple of teeth just wouldn't line up with the Invisalign. That was a hard conversation with a 17-year-old!

Best to get a board-certified orthodontist. Second best: orthodontist recommended by your dentist. Well behind that would a be a general dentist who also does braces. And NOT ever the online do-it-yourself ones. You don't even want to hear those horror stories.

I second, third and fourth everyone who says to see an orthodontist. Don't do these things online.

I had braces as a child, but back then they claimed that you only needed to wear your retainers for a year. Of course, we all know now that this is NOT true.
Flash forward to putting three children through braces and I wanted straight teeth myself because they'd shifted after all of these years.
I went to our family orthodontist and paid for Invisalign. I was offered for braces for half of the time, but let's face it - I'm in my 40's and was NOT interested in that. A side note to this story is that my fourth child did NOT have braces in high school. When she joined the military she decided that the wanted straighter teeth. She did an online "Invisalign" retainer trays type thing and at the end of the day, she wasted her money because although they look better than they did initially, they're not perfect.

If you're a candidate, Invisalign gives you perfect teeth -- and your orthodontist will tell you whether or not Invisalign is for you. It's also $6k in my area.

Hope this helps!

I had some clear brace set that my dentist was testing out. Did the job it needed to but wasn't the hardest waring material. I got them at cost price so wasn't a big investment.

Have Invisalign retainers now and everything about them is so much better. The fit and materials are spot on. So id recommend Invisalign. They tend to always be on offer. A dentist will scan your teeth and then send the files to Invisalign. So go with who's offering the same product at the lowest cost.

I agree. See orthodontist in person, not thru online. It's rampant to have this thing today due to this pandemic bs but try really not to depend online. Though honestly I initially got online consultation to Infinity Smiles and got better perspective of what invisalign offers.

That’s how much regular braces are in my area.

Yes, for our kids it was that much in 2013. They both went into braces on the same day. Our older son didn't start getting crooked teeth until 10th grade. So when his younger brother was almost ready to go into braces (after being watched a few years by the orthodontist) then he asked if he could get braces too.
Our insurance only covered $2000 or 2500 pp. I forget the exact amount.

Our insurance kicked in $1500 per kid, fortunately only 4 of our 5 needed them.😭
