What are the best skiing resorts to trade for using II and what are the chances of getting them during ski season if we book far in advance? We're looking at 2010. Thanks!

I'm signing on because I want the answer to this one too. My husband keeps on asking me when we're going to trade DVC to a week out west skiing. My usual reaction to this question? :rotfl2:

There are a number of Hyatt's and Marriott's including CO and Utah, St. James is another great resort. I can come up with a better list from resort quality once I'm home though we don't ski, but you can likely bet better info from TUG. If you go to TUG (tug2.net) don't confuse them with DVC, just either list the resorts you're considering or ask for the better II resorts. Early Dec and Jan won't be too bad if you search at least a year out, Xmas and late Feb through March will be almost impossible to get.

I'd also look at the Starwood resorts in Avon(at the foot of Beaver Creek, CO).

Lakeside Terrace has 2 bed dedicated units, Sheraton Mountain Vista has 2br lockoff units. Starwood about 2-3 weeks ago just banked a bunch of ski weeks for these resorts into II.

Park Plaza at Beaver Creek is also nice. I would check with II, because St. James is supposed to be remodeling and I don't know the dates. Hyatt :thumbsup2

Don't know too much about Breck. But Grand Timber and the Hyatt would be my DH's top choice.

I'll be at the Marriott Summitwatch, Park City UT in a week(hiking not skiing trip) The Westgate which is at the Canyons resort is very highly thought of by some Tuggers.

Thank you very much! I'll do a little more research there.

I haven't researched much about the actual property, but I see Big Sky (Montana) is on the II list. If it is lodging in The Summit, it would be incredible. We've skied all over the west and for price, lack of crowds and great spring snow, Big Sky is hard to beat. I'm going to keep watching this post b/c my DH also wants a ski vaca. Thanks!

I wish dvc would add a ski resort in Aspen, CO.

as a vacation home - not an exchange.

I have to put a plug in for Steamboat Springs, CO. My brother lives there and I have skiied there many times. The town is awesome--very "western" and cowboy themed. The skiing can't be beat. It is a drive (thru the mountains) from Denver but it is possible to fly from Denver (United Express) or Salt Lake City (Delta) to nearby Yampa Valley airport (I have done this). I would recommend renting a car--the town is definitely seperate from the ski area. The Village resort--offered by II is located between the town & ski area. This year Steamboat had it's snowiest winter ever--over 580" of snow! :scared1:
