Best ice cream

Define best. I think there are all sorts of opinions on best, although I think it would involve something really rich that you don't want to consume in mass quantities. I'm thinking maybe best experience, and for me that's Fenton's Creamery in Oakland, California. It's not super rich or super expensive, but I have fond memories of the place, even when the ice cream itself might not have been as good as it is now. I think it was mostly the cheap prices that I remember.

I'll throw in a few shout outs from the Bay Area.

For ice cream, Smitten (San Francisco) for seasonal made to order liquid nitrogen ice cream; Bi-Rite Creamery and Humphry Slocombe (both in SF) for a wide selection of unique flavors; and Swensen's (SF), Ghirardelli's (SF) and Fenton's (Oakland) for old school charm. I'll note that you can get Ghirardelli's in California Adventure and Fenton's makes an appearance in Pixar's Up.

For donuts, Dynamo Donuts (SF), Mr. Holmes Bakehouse (SF), and Psycho Donuts (San Jose).

Around Disneyland or Magic Mountain (a few other locations too), a must do for Ice Cream is Farrells. An old fashioned ice cream parlor where workers entertain in classic style. Farrells was a very popular chain in the 1970's and its nice to see them back again. Food is also very good there for lunch or dinner.
