Best Hotel close to Universal

Hi there, we are coming off a Disney cruise and spending the day at Universal Studios before leaving the next day to come back to Canada. Any suggestions for a good/clean hotel CLOSE to Universal Studios that's not too expensive. We will have our 2 kids with us (5 & 8). I know some offer free breakfast, some don't. Thanks!

We stayed at the Doubletree Universal during Christmas 2008. We walked to the Universal parks from there (Took 15 minutes or so, crossed one busy street with crosswalk). Got a rate of $80 a night with free breakfast. We found the hotel to be quiet, clean and convenient to the parks. The price changed a lot (I rebooked twice and dropped $20 a night and got breakfast for four also!) so keep your eyes peeled for deals to pop up. The pool was simple, but heated and had a nice hot tub. Fine for our purposes. There are other hotels nearby, but I'm not sure about prices or breakfast on these.

Fairfield Inn by Marriott on Canada Avenue is nice clean have free breakfast. Also they have discounts through Orlando Magic Card.

I s only couple minutes away.

We usually stay at the DoubleTree. It's right across the street from Universal and they have a lot of rooms so it's not hard to find a good price.

We actually like the Hyatt Place better than the Doubletree. It might work well for you with kids since all of the rooms have either a king or 2 doubles/queens and a nice sofabed in the living room, 2 nice tv's and an OK complimentary continental breakfast. It is right across the street from the entrance to Universal

We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City and really liked it. Its about .5 miles from US/IOA.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and it was pretty close. They have a free shuttle that goes to Universal.

I would suggest Hyatt Place as well. We got it for $30 a night on priceline!

It was well worth it too!
