Best Hilon brand hotels to stay in San Diego?

We will be staying in San Diego for 3-4 days then 3 days at DL. We are Diamond Members with Hilton and will be using points. Best place to stay? Beach resort? Should we go up the coast a bit?

The Hilton on Mission Bay in San Diego certainly looks very nice from the outside...I don't know about the inside, though. It's right on the bay, though I wouldn't swim in the water there!!!
