Best Guest/Game/Quest Question

This is for those of you who have won Best Guest, Game or Quest Room.

When did you get visited by staff?




When my wife won Best Guest, October '06, she was visited by two staff - one Friday night, and one Saturday morning (if I remember correctly...I'll change that info. if she says otherwise).


I'm just curious, but it would also help those who are gunning for Best "x" Room...

Sorry I'm not much help. I never did see any staff in my room.

The screen shot that was in the newsletter, I was in an outfit that I had put on specifically to visit LittleBelle's Boardwalk fireworks - I pretty sure that was on a weekend night. My win kinda goes against the common perspective of how to get your room noticed. As a ride lobby, my room is never full, maybe 4 or 5 people max or less at any time, and it still managed to get picked. I have had that room for a long time as a ride lobby (over a year?), but had redecorated it a couple months before. I hadn't lobbied to get nominated, or ask friends to vote for my room, or tried to get a lot of people in my room so it would be up on the popular list. I assume staff must have visited, but I never saw them and they didn't say Hi or visit.

I am so glad someone asked this question. I have wondered for a long time when would be the best time to open a room.

I know everyone can't sit and keep their rooms open the entire time vmk is open, so knowing if there is a "best time" would be helpful.

So if any of you very creative best room players could let us know when your rooms were open, that might help too.

I've won quest twice to answer the question:

My first win: It was a Sunday Lily visited about 10 minutes before her game that day.

My Second win: It was a Tuesday Morning when Hurricane came.

I've won the award twice.

First time, I was visited by VMK_Mocha a month before I won. Host Sparky visited two weeks before my win, also when the picture was taken. The weekend before the award, I had five staff visits, and I still had to wait a week.

Second time, one visit from VMK_Shadow. I wasn't even aware that they took the picture.

Patience is a virtue. Don't assume anything, and be the most gracious and nice host to your guests.

I made my room that won Best Guest a few weeks ago in the beginning of February. I sat and sat with no one coming into the room. Finally friends of mine came into the room and they voted for it and then their friends came in and voted also. Then one day towards the end of the month I went into a Host_Phinny's room and said hi to her and she said... Someone told me to come see your room, can I come after her room closed. No sooner did her room closed she showed up.She said she took a picture.The next week someone else won so I figured I didn't get it. A week after that I saw that I won on the main VMK page. That's how I found out. I never knew how hard it was to win Best Room! Good Luck to everyone trying to win!!!

My Best Quest win...Lily came after her event on a Sunday afternoon. But I think it was by chance she submitted my room for consideration because she was only there to visit. But luckily right when she came in the quest was winding down and everybody in the room was saying how great it was. Lol! So she got curious and went to check it out and even tried to do it herself. I got the win 2 weeks later.

I have never won either Belle, and I've had tons of friends & strangers hanging in many of my "should win best guest" rooms for hours. I heard of plenty of nominations, but still no host. I wish you the best of luck.

For Best Guest, I won in Dec 2005 for my Hanukkah room, but I don't recall ever seeing any staff visit it. It came as a surprised that I won.

Best Game:
For Duck Duck Boats, VMK_Babs came to visit when I was testing my game with friends. I wanted to make sure it ran smoothly before opening to the public, but I was surprised to find that I won Best Game from that visit.

For Throw That Pumpkin! I did see HOST_Lily stand in the doorway to observe.

I haven't won Best Quest, and so far I haven't seen any staff members come to my quest room to observe or visit otherwise. Guess this means I should run my quest again this week.

Both times i have won best quest and best game i was not visited by a staff.... in fact, only 4 people had ever played my game before i won for it.

Well, it's been a long time, but I think my visits were on Sundays.

Since I was indirectly requested to answer this question.. I will- although it will not be very helpful.

I will start back with my first win of anything in VMK and that was in February/March of 2006 and my game was a race which consisted of the Month's themes: Everest and Villains. The room was: Ever-Villains Evil Race Way! - many people usually ask and its sometimes difficult for me to remember, but anywho.. I had it open for a week, which consisted of 3 long open days and 4ish short openings. During my 3 big days I received the following visits:
VMK_Zev (visited Tues.)
VMK_Flamingo (visited Wed.)
HOST_Babs (visited Thurs.)
*HOST_Babs came and I almost literally went crazy. She was my favorite and now everyone is equal *

... After those visits and that week I was done with my major openings as other real life things interferred with my overall game play. Also believe it or not- this was before they even showed pictures of the winners and the rooms. I feel old..




Now.. for my recent win- nothing I tell you will probably help with what you are looking for. I opened my Quest's room up maybe 4 or 5 days at the max, and the majority of the time I would be afk and just sitting there to keep the room open. During this time a HOST must have popped in and visited without me knowing (as they can actually hide themselves in my room- like they usually try anways )

That's the basic on this win- it's a surprise and truly unexpected, but thanks VMK and all those who visited and/or nominated
