When checking fares via the apps, be sure to check around the general time of day and day of week you'd be arriving and departing. Some surge pricing I've seen posted on the Transportation board has been amazingly high! But also, I've read there that if they waited 10 minutes, the price went down considerably.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have set an alarm in my calendar to check the specific times on the same day of the week to see what the prices will be. But I've also checked throughout the day, and most fares have been pretty close. Lyft has always been cheaper than Uber, and I like their app better. I'm also seeing lower prices if you can wait a while, sometimes up to 25 minutes. I plan to check it as soon as my plane lands. Then when leaving, I can check it early enough to try to get a lower rate for waiting.
